    Default Pike fix

I've been looking for a pike fix as venetian . I'm playing L to C 2.1 which is great but doesn't include this.

I understand the problem is that they change to weak swords as soon as they are atttacked.

Any insifgt or fix on this problem appreciated

Basically, the typical fix is to do the following:

    1. Copy the following line:

It's used in the game files to make a unit have no secondary attack.
    2. Paste it over the stat_sec line of any pike units you find. If you want a complete list of units this should be done to, you'll have to search for the various previous threads that discuss the pike fix at length. Doing this removes their secondary attack (the sword) and thus they will continue pushing with pikes for all eternity.

I really don't like this workaround. In essence, it turns pikemen into just another melee unit. Pikemen should have to maintain their formation to be effective, but with this workaround they can just tromp any whichway in a jumbled mess and poke about with their sticks.

As it is, pikemen currently dominate infantry. This is because the shield bug and the secondary-weapon pikemen bug actually complement each other.

i think it is a good idea on that mod but i failed to understand why the ai would have a problem with it when you play against it? ive never used the pike fix mod just heard of it.

@MCM: If I recall the discussions correctly, the problem with the AI using fixed pikes/halberds is that it does not do the things with the unit that a human will. One of the big things is that people continue to claim better results from removing guard mode just after initial contact with enemy troops. The AI will not do this, and continues to operate the pikes in guard mode forever, which is said to hamper their combat effectiveness tremendously, even with the pike fix. The other big thing is that the AI will actually move them about and try to use them offensively. This typically leads to them getting slaughtered, either because they are horrible when strung out from running around a lot, or because of another bug where the pike unit will simply march through the enemy unit, never bringing its pikes into attack position. So, that's the gist of everything that I recall. Hope that's what you meant with your question.
