Thread: Factions not advancing issue fixed?

Default Factions not advancing issue fixed?

I was just wondering, I read about factions not advancing properly, like sitting in one place, or stacks just not doing anything (Romani was one in some games, however in my Sweboz one the Romani nearly wiped me out). My question would be has this rumoured issue been sorted/looked at? This was the main issue scaring me away from the mod, all other issues were only minor.

    Hello there,
I am glad to tell you that, from experience, this issue seems to be fixed. Enjoy EB!

We did "fix" a number of factions that had problems with either their entire unit set (Saba and Saka), units stats (Lusotanna), crippled AI reforms (Romani and Celts), or MIC recruitment levels (Celts, Sweboz, Hayasdan in particular, but all to some degree). As a result, it's not surprising that several of the quiescent v.80 factions are now more assertive.

Based on my testing I can confirm you that especially the Saka are now much more agressive. (They've taken 2 settlements by/ before 269 B.C., in all my betatesting U7 & all my EB 0.8.1 campaigns.) Which amounts to 5 times in a row.

That is what we hoped. Baktria ("the great blue blob") was expanding in a very non-historic fashion, and that was largely because their traditional foe (Saka) was far too weak to pose a challenge.

A couple of years into a Sweboz campaign, I saw that all factions pretty much moved with varying degrees of success against the neighbouring rebels. Only the Getai had not moved at all, and by this I mean their armies were standing in the exact same position they start in.

Oh goody. If only one faction has issues then it should not pose too much of a problem. I wonder though, do the Casse has issues when AI run? I recall seeing once something about the Rome engine not being too good with fleets.

It seems the problem is better, but not totally there yet. My current Rome campaign, Sweboz have their traditional stack next to their traditional town for 30 years, never moved. Casse actually expanded north but hit a snag with one of the towns. After several attempts to take it, they seem have given up even though they have at least 2 large stacks available. Carthage isn't doing much. And some other small issues. Maybe it depends on campaign difficulty? If higher difficulties make the AI more aggressive as a whole, they'd likely take more lands away from the player, no? Or is it only towards the player that they're more aggressive?

The Casse appear to enjoy a little cruise before they get to work. Give 'em time and they will conquer Brittain. After they've taken the first one or two settlements, the rest will follow pretty quickly - because the rest has frequently been attacked as well.

In my campaign the Getai are standing exactly in the same positions at the start, except they have 2 stacks. Casse attempted to take cornwall, failed and gave up and are currently doing nothing.
