Along the line of PseRamses`s exploit I offer mine to those that my not know it.

To become a saint, join and abandon a crusade till you become a saint, its that easy!

I really don't see why you'd exploit.

The game's easy enough as it is - there's no need to destroy this aspect of it as well, imo

Not to mention the loot you can get trashing cities on the way to the crusade target with an almost free, no upkeep, expendable army. The burdens the MTWII player must bear.

IMHO these sort of exploits maybe should be fixed in the next patch, they're not bugs but as Bill Gates would say "undocumented features". Not esential to fix just I think they detract from the rigour of the game. They're messy!

Ditto to fort merchant exploit, ditto to agent on resource exploit, ditto to inquisitor surround and drop an agent on him exploit. ditto to declaring crusade by all your generals just prior to completion to gain free experience.

None of these things will the ai do so they are really pointless.

OK thats the high and mighty speech, I have to admit (embarrassment!) that occasionally I have been seduced by the "dark side" and tried one or two of these, knowing full well that they don't really have the power to change the big picture outcome.

I only use one cheat... that's not too bad, right?
(I open up the console at the beginning of the game, type victory, congratulate myself, and leave.)

I reguarlly use toggle_fow to find an enemy settelment if I havn't memorised that are of the map yet. I also like to check up on how others are doing somtimes and use it for that. but I think thats become nearlly standered for everyone these days so...

I can say in all honesty and without arrogance that I never cheat. It would weigh too heavily on me if I won anything by foul play and that includes this game.

How many of you have never been tempted?

Some of those things let you bypass major hassles. Droping a merchant into a fort and forgetting about him until he dies is major reduction is what I personally consider a silly bit of micromanaging.

The life of a virtual crusading sergeant is a hard one. Plucked from the population statistic he happily was he is paid a pittance of what he is worth, left to fend for himself and then told to march across a 3D Europe to some shadowy destination. Interesting thought! If He is, then He certainly got an interesting commander to watch in me. I wonder if He thinks the same things about the pope in our world that I do about the pope in the game...

Not to mention he's often thrust into a horrible situation in wierd outdoor area full of other pixelated people who want to kill him, and then made to do a number of degrading and perplexing things, such as rush head-on into a wall of spears, clicked on by straight mouse pointers, act as a pincushion and distraction for the much higher value pixelated men on their pixelated horses as they get all the glory, and just in general mismanaged by bumpkins such as myself.
