You have the latest video drivers? Also you can turn down video settings of course, and run with smaller unit sizes for battle performance. But you probably already knew that. No more ideas off the top of my head, sorry.

Smaller campaign screen; lower color depth are two others to try. And, of course, make sure you have running as little as possible in the background to save RAM.

I have this problem as well. It doesnt seem to have anything to do with screen resolution or shadows either.

It appears that EB is loading something at the beginning of the game that makes the campaign map very laggy. I dont touch anything when I start EB and my hard drive doesnt stop running for the 1st 10-15 min. After this, the lag seems to go away...

Yeh the lag seems to go away alot after its been running for awhile too, but this doesnt solve my MTW2 Lag problems either:(, gonna try reducing screen size and such but even if i have to? its kinda gay? cause my comp is 3-4 years old and my laptop is 3 months old. And every other game i can play on both my laptop always runs in faster and less choppy. its just MTW2 thats the problem and EB

I understand that you've downloaded patches 1.3 and 1.5 for RTW. After that I can't understand what you are saying. Unless someone else are able to help, I suggest you reword your question.

Anyway, haven't you got those patches installed already? You've played EB, right? The game won't work at all on an older patch.

Ok i have an older comp bout 4 years old, up stairs runs RTW and MTW2 Fine, ive got a new laptop runs all my other games better then it does on my comp except for RTW and MTW2, after i downloaded the patches and installed EB, for some reason it becomes VERY laggy, chops up alot its almost unbearable. However whenever i enter a battle.... there is no problems what so ever it runs clean. When i load MTW2 it is so choppy that it is unbearable to play on both the campaign and battle screens... I would like to know how to fix this.. also my laptop meets every single req of the game. MTW2 runs fine on my computer aswell just slow load times cause its older

If your graphics card is not top-notch (might be the case with your laptop), some programming technique on the campaign screen appears to run very slowly, and the larger map of EB naturally makes it worse. My (stationary) computer ran it slowly until I upgraded. Have you tried to disable character name and settlement display? On the campaign map, press Ctrl-T and Ctrl-N to toggle them. It made a difference to me back then. Also, make sure that you have the latest video drivers, as said earlier.

I'm also having some lag issues at all resolutions. I haven't tried turning off settlement names or character names, but I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to disable the trade fleets that move about constantly.
