What is your favourite Total War Game!?

Hi there guys!
For the benefit of those dear people who plan on expanding their TW collection, I decided that perhaps I could set up this thread with the intent of highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each great Total War game in turn and generally establishing which Total War is the .org member's personal favorites. So which game do you enjoy, thanks, cheers!

I voted MTW:Viking Invasion because that is the only one I've played. (well, MTW as well but the expansion is better)

Xehh, that is not a stupid reason - it is the only reason. It's like when there is a poll:

I know this may surprise those here that know me, but I actually voted "Gah!" While I don't deny I play MTW/VI more often than Shogun, I enjoy both so much that I really would have a hard time saying which is my favorite.

If I was being brutally honest with myself, I would maybe admit that I enjoyed Medieval a *teensy* bit more (mostly because of the time period & setting)....but a mouse could starve on the difference. In my mind, they're both superb games and are one virtually equal footing with each other.

My favorite is MTW: VI, because it, in addition to MTW vanilla, is the only one I've played, though from what I've read, I am strongly considering getting shogun as well. I am not a huge RTS gamer, so I've been hesitant to get either Rome or MTW2. Also, I love the original gameplay the series began with, again, from what I've seen and heard about Shogun, and game creators have a tendency to shift their focus as they make more and more sequels to games and I would be among the people who don't like the shift in focus the games apparently took after MTW.

Medieval Total War 2 for now at least. I love the time period and the game play. Not too much more to ask for.

It is the most fun playing as the Hungarians I reckon. Or as the Sicilians - it is especially fun to have a Sicilian overlord in Muscovy...

But I'm stuck on the VI campaign map...is it even possible for someone playing as the Mercians to conquer the Norselands? I've taken over almost all of Britain and Ireland (including one province that cost me 4000 light cavalrymen to bring down 250 defenders. I suppose I should have checked to see what my army was made up of, but I just marched right in. 60 archers protected by 100 armoured spearmen sitting on a hilltop against an army of 8 trebuchets - all out of range - and 8 units of light horse on the battlefield can do incredible damage....and every damn reinforcement was mounted) but I can't make it to the east.

See? I can be serious too!

Send in you bishops, convert the provinces to Christianity, then place the best spies you've got in there to keep causing rebellions. Eventually the rebels will win and the Vikings will be wiped out from both provinces, then bribe the rebels. That is the only way to get to Hordaland and Jutland, without modding the game (assassinating the Viking leader won't work as a new one will always take his place, as with the HRE and Pope in the main 1087 - 1453 campaign).

To take the viks, I wonder if it's possible to bribe viking armies if there is no king/heir in it without it being rebel... Never tried it: you don't actually need to conquer Hoardaland and Jutland to win.

And I love this Viking campaign!!!!

(ahem: did you use your special charging technique to win in Ireland? )
