Help with France

I need help with the french, HRE and milan have attacked me and I cannot win, I need help. Milan has taken over Dijon, but i'll get that back easy. Marseille is easily defending against the Milanese, but my problem is with the HRE I can stop them. They haven't taken a settlement yet but they will soon, I need strategies to defeat them.

I find, when faced with a massive invasion like yours, that it's best to consolidate your forces and take the enemy out one by one. Try and supplement your forces with mercenaries if you have the moolah. If you're heavily outnumbered, guerrilla tactics can help. Once I was faced with a crusade in my lands and I took out the enemy faction leader in a cavalry ambush, which tipped the odds in my favor and I repelled the invasion. Just some thoughts.

Make up an all cavalry army (equal numbers of mailed knights/sgts) and patrol that border, crushing their standing forces.

Eventually you'll be able to build up infantry and fight back

Well, something bad happened in my campaign, I defeated Milan but HRE have allied with Poland, Hungary and Denmark and they have all declared war on me. My allies are Spain, Portugal and Venice and my whole alliance has been excommunicated, even though the HRE alliance attacked first and my cardinal was even elected pope. I really need help with this one.

Well, I'll give you some good advice on this matter...

Build an army. There is absolutely no point in attempting to defend against your foes without a single soldier to stand in your defence! Or, if there is a soldier, he won't do well against an army of ten thousand. Well, not in reality. In Hollywood, of course, that is pittance. In the movies, one man can kill thousands without even a wound...

The other option available to you, Xehh, is to lay down your arms, if you have any (SEE ABOVE) and hope that your enemies are merciful and don't kill your soldiers, take their wives and sell their children to foreign slavers.

Well, there we go. Several options are available to you!

I've always had trouble playing as France...

What I suggest is that you make a settlement with at least one of them, ASAP. As you don't seem too strong right now you might want to offer a territory or two to make peace with everyone and then attack them again ASAP when you get a real army up and running.

HRE will not accept peace even when I offer them everything but my capital. They have also allied themselves with all the muslim factions, I am allied with the orthodox factions but HRE still get stronger now matter what I do. The pope also supports HRE which makes it difficult to fight back.

How do I stop inquisitors, now that my Pope is allied with HRE, all the pope does is send inquisitors.

Whoa!!!! You're indeed in trouble. If the M2TW behavior is close to the MTW regarding civil wars and all, my best suggestion would be to build very good defensive armies to inflict severe defeats to your foes attacking you. Other possibility, build one good army and go sacking your enemies' communities?

Cavalry armies are really nice whenever you're outnumbered and face no chance of winning: you can inflict huge casualties on the enemy.
