A step up from the normal fundamentalist school in the Middle East. You know those ones where U.S. and Israeli flags are painted on the floor at every doorway and the students are told to step on them. Not to mention the daily praising of past and present suicide bombers and all the glory they represent.
"There is a true glory and a true honor; the glory in duty done and the honor in the integrity of principle."

"The truth is this; the march of Providence so long, that of the individual so brief, that we often only see the ebb of the advancing wave. It is history which teaches us to hope."

It's good to see at least someone's thinking in the long term. This is very reassuring, and hopefully his example and the lessons he's learned along the way will spread.

Education that is a long term benefit for all. Rather cool.

Hay! Really glad to see people putting money where their mouth is.

It seems like a more than worthy endeavour too. Isn't amazing what one individual can accomplish with meagre resources while governments seldom seem to have a positive effect on situations like that.

Too bad we don't know some way to hook him up with Bill Gates, who gives a lot to education and school building projects.

What a marvellous initiative. I'm particularly impressed that he has managed to deal with the inevitable attack on his schooling of girls.

"We spend billions" on military efforts, says Mortenson, but "one dollar per kid per month would set up schools." His goal - which is essential to preventing a new generation of terrorists - is "to promote peace one school at a time."
Education and peace. Worth a donation, duly sent.

    Thanks Hosa, for the information.
