Thread: Formations

    Default Formations

What do you guys personally do about formations in the game.

Do you use the standard EB formations?

Do you use them, but rearrange your units before the battle begins?

Or do you use Sinhuets or Darths?

Be great to hear what everyone is doing and how the enemy AI is acting.

Personally, I've been using Sinhuets and the pre battle formations look real nice and the AI battle behaviour has been good, usually attacking the front of my formations and not chasing my units all over the map :)

I always have to redo my formations. But that is my own fault. I fill my army with heavy infantry and this is the default formation for heavy infantry:

Does anyone recommend using Sinhuets or Darths formations? I set my own formations before battle and I'm curious if these other formation mods are fun to use.

the AI is too dumb to keep a formation and too dumb to properly catagorize your troops for default(EB) formations. You gotta do it yourself, but thats a good thing. Formations are unique for every army, every enemy, and every terrain.
Take a look at some ancient battles and get some ideas, it'll make the game more fun.
Alexandrian style double phalanx anyone? i find it useful once in a while, where a greek phalanx square is too defensive, and a single line is too exposed.
