Gaesatae are still in, but they aren't mercenary units anymore. Aedui, Arverni and Karthadastim can recruit them (ofcourse only in Gallic provinces). Pontus, Seleukeia,... can recruit their galatian counterparts, I think. (these are about the same but the gaesatae are a bit better.)
Galatian Tindonoatae (sp ?) are still available as mercs in all of Asia Minor.
Excellent troops to flank your phalanxs, teaming up with hypaspitai and pheraspidai in a "royal guard brigade"![]()
Our Celtic Expert took exception to the idea of the Gaesatae hiring themselves off to the highest bidder. Something to do with a strong religious and cultural component to them which was incompatible with "pay to fight".Originally Posted by the_handsome_viking

I'm playing as the Aedui at the moment and I can't seem to find them as mercinaries, do the Gaesatae have something against the Aedui or could there be something wrong with my version 8.1?Originally Posted by Kull
They aren't mercenaries anymore. IIRC just build a level 3 mic in gaul and you can make them.Originally Posted by the_handsome_viking
I shouldn't have to live in a world where all the good points are horrible ones.
Is he hurt? Everybody asks that. Nobody ever says, 'What a mess! I hope the doctor is not emotionally harmed by having to deal with it.'
The Gaesatae are not avaliable as mercs to anyone. They are still recruitable.
