I get it...this is what happened to the original release date, anyone remember the 7th of June last year? its etched on my menory for some reason...

the 8th of June is the closest Friday to this (meaning THAT is when it would be released...)

therefore, the expansion could be released a year and a day after the original, nice

    no - forget that...I WANT MAY - I WANT MAY - I WANT MAY - I WANT MAY...

    thats better...
    Have you seen the fnords?

June 5th is still spring. Hang in there, that gives them a comfy 15 day buffer to fall back on.

I don't even look at release dates anymore. After what happend the first time around (Shogun being delayed over a year). These dates that are put out by these companies like EB world, Gamestop, or whoever, are really just useless. Since I have mine reserved at Software ETC. I'll just bide my time until it comes out.

lol, Gregoshi! That's the spirit m8!

    ..

I'm in total agreement Zaxxon + there is something that I heard once in an unrelated venue that I'd like to run up the proverbial flagpole with ya:

Similarly, someone I knew and respected once put forth (and I'm paraphrasing here) -That the major conflict concerning game release dates stems from the fact that under the commerce laws of most Nations it is not legal to offer a forthcoming product for pre-order unless you can provide the customer with a reasonable estimate of the future date when the product will be delivered.

In other words: if a company like amazon.com advertises a product for pre-order the order-form and advertisement must be accompanied by a release date which, (accurate or not), is meant merely to represent the timeframe until the product is actually deliverable.

Moreover, when a situation arises where an intermediary company has no clue when a product will actually be released they are placed in a position where they are forced to engender an estimated date simply to comply with various pre-order commerce laws.

Hence the problem is that we customers are prone to take the aforementioned dates literally rather than viewing them as the arbitrary legalistic timeframes which they actually represent.

Modern civilization is a vast conspiracy against silence

I guess that's the definitive statement as far as pre-order release dates are concerned, Kurando-sama. We don't really know what the Community Site's "late spring" means, but I would rather trust that than any other site, pre-order or no. June 5 is IMHO very late spring, but remember that there are a lot of unknown variables here - DT probably doesn't know what CA is specifically doing at any given time, so they have to rely on reports like "we may need a week or so more". Also, before anything gets really released, the complete product must be sent to EA's Quality Assurance department, which probably hasn't ever seen the game before and thus has no idea how long it will take to test it.

Kurando, you are very much correct about your last statement.

When I was programming, our programming group had a rule: never mention dates to anyone outside our group. The worst thing you could do at the beginning of a project was to say "If everything goes okay and there are no surprises, we should finish in early June." What everyone hears is "The project will be completed June 1." At that point you are doomed because that date become written in stone and widely publicized. And it didn't matter how many new features were piled onto the project afterwards.

Back in my Commodore 64 days, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a game being converted from the Apple II. The magazine ads said it was "available", so I pre-paid my local computer store and they ordered it. For over 6 months I visited the store 3-4 times a week after work. My anticipation would built sky-high as I drove to the store ("today is the day!"). I'd walk in and ask "Is it in?" They'd say "No" and I'd go home dejected. I wasted a lot of time, gas, and emotional energy impatiently waiting for that game. The people at the store probably thought I was a little strange too - "Here comes that guy again!" Nevermore.

"Spring" = astronomical spring, northern hemisphere.

Tone, I don't think any game is/was worth that. I became obsessed that it will be in the store "tomorrow". Just one more visit and it would all be over and I'd have my game.

BTW, the game was Crush, Crumble & Chomp by Epyx. You played a monster similar to Godzilla, Rodan, etc. and tried to destroy as much of the city as you could before the army, air force and mad scientist could kill you. You got to eat people for food - yummy! I enjoyed the game very much, but you always knew you were going to die at the end.

I just got my latest issue of PC Gamer and it lists the release date as May 25. We should be having a "baby pool" for the release date!

Speaking of babies, Dark Phoenix , why don't we take our insult swapping back to the clan forum? It's been too quiet there lately and we are hijacking this topic.

Isn't DP cute? He's almost speaking in comprehensible sentences. I'll pay for his bridge tolls too since his weekly allowance won't cover it.

So, anyone else hear a different date for release of the expansion pack?
