Well, I'm speaking from viking campaigns, on hard level (not expert yet. ). I have usually one province producing valoured up asassins (yes I'm speaking of quite "far" in the game"), and it does usually work, even if from time to time it doesn't. But using huge wave of assassins is efficient IMHO.

Of course, I wouldn't use "improved assassins" on such a "bandwagon and dangerous" task!
