    Default An INCREDIBLY odd thing!

I'm playing this game on my laptop. Like most laptops, it has a function key, to use with other keys to turn the sound up and down etc.

Now the real funny thing is, when I use it to turn the brightness up or down(the fn key + up/down arrow), something triggers, and my game is reloaded to the last save, settlement names are toggled off, character names are toggled on and the console is brought up, in addition to adjusting my brightness! The number of times I press the arrow key doesn't matter, and the result is the same on both up and down.

Anybody got a clue on what is going on? Kind of annoying having to minimize the game to adjust the brightness...

This sounds like a leftover from the debugging/testing phase, some macro or undocumented key binding that the developers used as shortcuts to speed up things.

Just a guess though, might be completely wrong...

A man goes to the doctor and he says, "Doctor, you gotta help me! My arm hurts when I go like this!" and he waves his arm.

the Doctor says, "So don't go like that"

@ moriendi: well, it seems odd that they wanted it to do this... But of course a possibility...

@pat: well, as I said, it's quite tiring to have to minimize the game to adjust my brightness(which I do a lot), especially as it takes ages...

If you need your laptop to be brighter, use a flashlight. Duh!

The simple solution: find the right brightness and stay on it.

You've got a problem if you find yourself constantly needing to adjust it.

Well, the level of brightness depends on the amount of light elsewhere in the room, which is shifting...

And I'm trying to always keep it as low as possible, to protect my eyes...

I have the same thing, (Dell 8600), using function key and up/down arrow, I change the brightness as it should but also, I mute sound, reload last save ,enter the console mode and show the keystroke menu! If during a battle it changes the ui options and mute(or something like that-I forget exactly).

I've learn't to switch out of MTW2 before I change brightness.

Dell Inspiron 9400 here. Yeah, the f1-menu comes up as well as muting sounds, forgot that...

    A weird thing indeed...

Not really sure what happened when I was in the battle screen, the console came up and the sound was muted, but some other things didn't seem like they were as they should be... The tooltip-thingy when you however your mouse over a unit was missing, for example...
