Love the new version of the cards! I can see myself printing them all off and using them as a reference when I am in battle, so I can make better strategic decisions. I was interested to see the stats for peltastai, I always considered them as little better than akontistai, but it appears they are much better...

BTW you have missed the 'B' in 'better armed' for the Argyraspidai.

at this point i think it should be nice to have a comparative tabula of (for example) skirmishers:

Roman Leves, Velites, Akontistai, Peltasts, numidian javelimen etc

it could be divided in various theme collections, "the skirmishers collection cards", "the phalanx collection", "the cavalry collection", a "General's bodyguards golden collection" etc.

Done most of the 'core' Macedonian unit cards now (see first post)

Found some interesting stats in the process. I am not sure everything is how it should be but that's what the EDU says.

Sensible. My crib notes are arranged by troop type. After all, I want to know which of the subject peoples of my Empire would make the best _______.

I have come up against a small (possible) issue.

There currently are the following settings for spear units

    -standard (no modifier in 'stat_xxx_attr')

    -with the 'spear' modifier

-with the 'spear' and 'long_pike' modifier

The way I have done it now is that standard spearmen just have the 'Spear' label in their attack stats.

Units with the 'spear' modifier (e.g. the hoplites) have a 'Long Spear' label underneath Spear.

Units with the 'long_pike' modifier (e.g. the phalanx) units have the 'Pike' label in their attack stats. I believe 'long_pike' only occurs if the unit also has the 'phalanx' trait.

However, I just come across some units that are phalanx but only have the 'spear' modifier in 'stat_xxx_attr'. Now ... should these be labelled as Pike units (like the other phalanx units - in which case how do I identify the 'long_pike' ones) OR should they be labelled Spear units with the Long Spear identifier underneath (like the hoplites) plus the phalanx identifier?

Or is there another good way of doing it?

i think you could keep the "phalanx" tag for units that have the phalanx formation ability, and add a "very long spears" tag for units that have the ability, for other units i think there is no need for a tag. Me too think that very long spears only occurs on phalanx abilited units.

I think that "very long spears" could be a sort of icon like that of the stamina and long grass.

But what about "very good stamina units? (very hardy)" I think it should be nice to have 2 hearts for them...

Hmm, I will look into this. I just did a quick check in the EDU and long_pike can only coexist with the phalanx ability so that is not a problem, maybe the terms spear phalanx and pike phalanx will do the trick.

Yes, either that or a differently coloured heart. Similarly for more than 1 hit point I probably also need some sort of icon ... running out of hearts soon here ...

For units with more than one hitpoint you might use a drop of blood, wouldn't that fit? And maybe a skull for units that cause fear?

    Three things:

    1) Absolutely gorgeous work! Love 'em!

    2) I've been blowing off working on typos and grammar stuff while working the "larger issues", and now it comes back to haunt me. Gah.

    3) There was a major EDU stat upgrade in the Hotfix - so you might want to hold off statting new cards for the next few hours.

    1) Cheers for the thumbsup!

    2) See it as a way of 'improving' it

    3) Back to the drawing board then! You know I won't rest until all of yesterday's cards are fixed

just thinking have you thought to the "fast moving" attribute? It should be nice to have it shown too, it could be a sort of you know that sort of symbol of mercurius, that sandal with 2 eagles near the foot... keep it up the good work!

    Here are some Aedui units

    and some Ptolemaic units

Again, some stats look a bit wonkey ... in particular Klerouchikoi Phalangitai looks underpowered compared to the Pezhetairoi

    Great work bro,

I noticed (on the screen) some of them have a bit of dithering around the words from the jpeg format - havent had a chance to print them yet so I dont know how they look when printed as far as resolution

is this the best quality image (hosted jpeg on image shack) - or would it be better to have higher res formats (crisper images) downloadable somewhere???

Their range is also listed as lower than that of the javelins chucked by the Milnaht.

The copy&paste monster has struck again, methinks - indeed this is wrong

Here are some Carthaginian units while I fix that:

BTW: I am looking for the graphics to carthaginian_infantry_dorkim_leebi_feenikim_meshoorianim ; Dorkim Leebi-Ponnim Mesoorianim - anyone know where that is ... it's not in the Egypt folder but it also does not display as a peasant in game so I am a bit confused about where to find it.

I'm not into that sort of thing, but perhaps:
    merc folder;
a different name (look for the technical name)

I had no Idea so many units were unrecruitable. Is there any way or any sub-mod to implement them? cause I'd love to play with the Goidilic shock infantry...

    Cheers...

There is no 'easy' way to make them recruitable, but if you feel brave you can try editing the EDB (just make sure you make a copy first!).

Basically look for the unit you want, copy all those lines and paste them into the previous MIC (which is above it in the EDB). That way they will be recruitable for gov type 2.

I will mention this to the team, as it looks like a mistake.

Oh so it's easy. They're not recruitable cause you can't build the required barracks there :) ok thanks mate You'll make my Avernii campaign much more interesting :)

And here are all the steppe units:

The 'N' refers to Nomadic MICs (Camps) and the 'P' to Pastoral MICs (Settlements) . Units with orange dots are noble cavalry from the Elite Herds (Hers and Courts) and can be recruited under both nomadism or pastoralism.

Check this image for a more detailed explanation of what the different MICs mean:
