There you go mate. If you do use them, fade them quite a lot (reduce contrast, increase brightness) so they don't overpower things.

    Thanks for the templates, TA.

I am just not sure it is adding anything to the cards, here is a first attempt

It is fairly pale and when you print it it kind of becomes a mass of grey. The problem is if I make it any darker the whole card kind of loses contrast, so I am not sure this is the way to progress.

Playing with the colours gives something like this, which is nice, but makes some text difficult to read:

I will try to see whether I can include the templates in some other way.

Will keep you guys updated - in the meantime, let me know what you think.

The Eastern Greek template looks much better:

    and so is African

Right, here is a sample of 5 backgrounds, African, Roman, 'Barbarian', Western and Eastern Greek.

Still not very happy with the Aedui one

Yeah, that barb one is too overexposed now. The first way you tried it was better I think. Like at the top of post 81, or close to that. Looks like the background was alpha'd out for that Aedui unit also - They are on all units, but it depends on how you copy them as to whether or not they would appear on something you paste them onto.

The more I look at it, the more I agree. I will play around with some settings and see what I can come up with. I might even change the RGB channels so that it doesn't interfere with the script on top quite as much.

There is also this (which doesn't look too unnatural when printed out)

BTW: you don't happen to have the Western Greek background with the marble relief? The other one is ok, but I am just wondering whether that one would be even nicer.
