    it has been buging me for a while but is there a way u can change unit banners and faction symbols

    Yes there is, but it isn't easy. You will need Photoshop with the nVidia DDS plugin, or something else capable of editing DDS files. As far as I remember, you may also need Vercengetorix's Xpak program to unpack the UI files. I have been through this process myself and will gladly help you when I'm less drunk.
