Default Rise of Empires: Total War

I always thought the mod, Age of Mankind: Total War, was a great idea, and was dissapointed to see it fade away. To be able to fight with all the great nations and their different cultures and militaries would have been incredible! Therefore, I propose Rise of Empires: Total War. This mod would cover the whole world, from 814 BC (Carthage founded) to 1815 AD (defeat of Napoleon).

As for modding, I have some basic all-round experince. I can do some basic weapon / shield swapping in 3ds Max. I can skin using Photoshop, and make unit cards, faction icons, banners etc, although my artistic skill isn't all that developed yet. I can also do basic text editing, and can edit the map by adding settlements etc. However, I plan to complete this mod largely from using other mods work. There's so many mods for RTW (thats why I'm not planning this for M2TW) that they could cover most areas of RoE:TW. I will of course ask for permission before doing this. Still, any help would be appreciated.

Deciding the factions to include is extremely difficult. With so many nations rising throughout the timeframe, and each with so many different cultures throughout their history, it is a real challenge to represent them all. However, I hope this list covers things as well as possible:

    Britain
    Gaul
    Iberia
    Germany
    Rome
    Macedon
    Huns
    Persia
    Carthage
    India
    China
    Korea
    Japan
    Mongolia
    Egypt
    Berbers
    Zulu
    Inca
    Aztecs
    Lakota

It was a close call between the Mapuche and the Inca, but in the end I chose the Inca because they had, before their fall, had several attempts to conquer the Mapuche, and were better organised, and also were geographically closer to the Aztecs which adds some spice to that area of the map.

Well, I felt at least one faction should go towards representing the native Americans, and to be honest, it could have flipped a coin to choose between the Lakota and the Iroquis. From my almost non-existent knowledge of native American tribes, they were the two most powerful confederations, I think.

Give me a break, I can't be an expert on all human history!

You already had 2: the inca and aztec. Remember, Native american is a name given to thhe pre-hispanic tribes-nations that inhabited America, not the USA.

I look forward to this mod, maybe you could borrow inca: Total War units when they are done...

Well, the cultural difference between the Lakota and the Aztecs/Incas was huge, so I thought they should be represented.

Also, that would be really appreciated if I could use the Inca: Total War units. Judging from your sig should I take that as permission granted from the team?

I would say Iroquis over Lakota. Iroquis were a major pain in the backside to the french settlers. They played a big role. Them or the Huron confederacy/algonquins

I'll need to put a little more research into the lakota-or-not faction slot, its the hardest part to research in this entire mod. Slightly harder than Aztecs, Incas, and Zulu, they are also very difficult to find anything on.

Not really. You must talk to Rex Pelsagorum and/or Merilitos.

Hey, if you used Rtw vanilla units, asked permission for some chiv total war units, reinassance total war units, nap 2 total war units, and inca total war units, you would have many many units covering all the periods. bUt its almost impossible to get permission from all those teams.
