    Default Unit stats inconsistencies

While going over the unit stats I found what I would call 'Unit stats inconsistencies' - not necessarily bugs, but values that somehow look out of place when compared with other units of the same kind. Now I know that a lot of the unit stats are still work in progress but nevertheless was wondering whether the EB creators would like to have feedback on this at this time.

I can give you some examples of what I found:

Prodromoi, Thraikoi Prodromoi, Hetairoi all have AP for their secondary attack, but Hippeis Thessalikoi does not. - oversight?

Hypaspistai have the Improved hide in forest ability when they don't look like they could hide anywhere other than a nicely decorated carnival

Anyway, I was just wondering whether EB wanted this kind of feedback or whether you have better/more important things to worry about right now.

It can't hurt! I'll point the stat folks here.

The Hypaspistai thing is definitely a mistake. We'll take care of that. As for the Hippies Thessalikoi, do they have a kopis as a side arm?

Xiphos, by the unit description and model skin. A fair few Greek cavalry (well, the Hippies anyway) seem to have had their kopises swapped for... xiphei ? ...between 0.81 and 0.81a.

Some missile troops incidentally have buggered missile-lethality attributes. Accensi (#231) have 0.26 for their slings, and Levantine Saggitarius Auxilia (#232) an equally queer 0.321 for their bows. And the Sarmatian and Mardian Foot Archers (#s 293, 294) still have buggered mount_effect values - +4 against horses and camels...?

There's probably more, but these are ones I remember now.

Lethality doesn't affect missile weapons, it doesn't really matter what it says. Those values are probably just left over from before we figured that out.

It doesnt ? Cor blimey, that's even more bent than the odd values.

    Another question:

What exactly does the 'spear' attribute in stat_pri_attr do for NON-PHALANX units?

I notice that some hoplite units have it, others don't and I am not sure whether it should be there and if yes, what exactly it achieves.

e.g. Hoplitai Haploi, Holpitai and Hypaspistai have it,
Ekdromoi Hoplitai, Massiliotes Hoplitai, Dorkim Lubim-Ponnim Mookdamin do not

Actually, if you think about it, it kind of makes sense. The arrow/bullet/javeliin either hits and kills or, well, does nothing. The engine has no way of modelling a non-kill hit, as in 'javelin stuck in shield' so there really isn't a lot of point in having the lethality reduced ...

I've been wondering about the stats of the Sabyn King's Elites. They're supposed the be the meanest and toughest heavy infantry the Sabyn have. You can't even train them as they come exclusively as your generals bodyguards.
Even so in a 1-on-1 fight against the Galatian Kleruchoi they loose slowly but surely. Granted the difference in melee stats is minimal in favor of the Galatians, but still I think it's weird.
Are they (the Galatians) supposed to be better and cheaper than the Sabyn bodyguards and the Lo'hamin Azzilim?

Something else I noticed: Some of the Sweboz units have an '1' for shield when they don't really carry a shield at all (e.g. Merjoz, Bastarnoz Swaiut).

Also the Bastarnoz Swaiut have a very large mass (1.4) - which might or might not be a bug.

While I don't know exactly why they have 1 shield, it could be an abstraction for being better able to dodge missiles when facing the direction it is coming. Some stat guy should be able to tell if it's a bug or not. Unit masses I have no idea about.

spear reduces casualties from frontal cavalry charges when a unit receiving the charge is ready, it also increases a lot the amount of casualties a cavalry unit takes while charging. It also gives severe penalties in melee against both infantry and cavalry.

Another thing that slightly puzzles me. Shouldn't the Getai Tarabostes have an AP secondary weapon ? All the other Getai units with those funky curvy sica swords - Komatai, both Stratiotais - get it after all... And the Tarabostes' seem to be a step bigger too, as befits noblemen.

Another little thing: Cohors Praetoriana has no charge bonus on secondary (sword) weapon - could be a bug.

    Something else I noted:

A couple of low level Eastern units (e.g. Shuban Fradakshana , Thanvare Payahdag, Eranshar Arshtbara ...) are recruitable form MIC level 1 for some factions are MIC level 2 for others. Now this might well be a feature, but I haven't seen anything similar happen for any other units.
