I'm convinced this an installer issue. Why is a shortcut to the FAQ page created? Also, my version EB081 patch shortcut disappears. I have to access the game thru the older EB08 shortcut. I believe this is directing you to the wrong place or something as critical data lines are missing etc. How do I create my own shortcut to the EB081a hotfix version? I'm not an expert, but i think this may have something to do w/problem...thx

The Team, as always has done a fantastic job getting the Hotfix prepared and tested. But sadly, the "simple patch" seems to have had a built-in flaw that caused it to uninstall EB. I can assure you guys we DID test this before releasing it - we always do. But as many of you know from first hand experience, sometimes the Hotfix installer works PERFECTLY - and that was our experience duing the internal test. So people out here weren't "blind and dumb", and we apologize to those who did everything *right*, and STILL were getting CTD's.

At least we had a solid "Plan B", and fortunately that has worked well.

    Kull,

I dont think theres a person here who doesnt have the greatest respect and admiration for what the EB team has achieved. The work speaks for itself. I think we all understand that when it comes to computers and in particular modding - $&!* happens. I think people are just eager to help in anyway they can by reporting small problems before they become big ones, and I guess the only problem is this mod is so great, excitement quickly turns to disappoitment when they cant play the latest version. And as in all cases you guys were well prepared with an alternate. Its a no blame culture, and if you guys are to blame for anything its creating a mod that has re-addicted people to game they had long ago shelved, and being too efficient and professional, thus when something does mess up - people go into a panic

anyone willing to help seed the torrent? your international eb fans are stuck at 16.6% and i would seed forever until all needs for the patch are fulfilled.

or maybe upload the zip file onto filefront or other filesharing website? any help with spreading the love would be very much appreciated.

I checked a battle in-game, and my KH general is now with a unit of spartans
    Heh, my test too

Link to the FAQ but no link to .81a makes sense to me.
Many people have issues & don't read the FAQ then post topics "how do I <X that is in the FAQ>"
No new shortcut is made because the link to .81 created by the .81 installer is still valid, its still essentially .81 but with hotfixes added.

I'm wierded out by this whole installer deleting many files thing... didn't do it to me
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

After the failed hotfix, I reinstalled Eb0.81 and then extracted the ZIP file. This time the mod updated correctly and I am able to play 0.81a. Definetly seems like the problem is caused by the hotfix executable removing things it shouldn't.

If this is found out to be 100% true, some poor Scotsman is in for a flogging...

The team gets a HUGE number of repeat questions, most of which are answered in the FAQ. So the Hotfix is designed to drop a link to the FAQ on your desktop, in the hope that people will be more inclined to consult it.
