I would like to announce, detail and recruit for a new M2TW modification centred on the mid east. Before you sigh and go "Oh no, not another soon-to-be-failed mod" please check out the screens of my in-progress campaign below.

FEATURES
- 1175AD to 1400 AD. Basically from the rise of Saladin to the Timurids
- 2 turns per year
- Religions will be Islam, Christianity (no sects), Paganism or perhaps Hinduism if someone is willing to help me make a Hindu "Rajput States" faction.
- Will have brand new units for the eastern Persian, Afghan and Indian factions.
- Will focus heavily on mercenaries, I want to have mercenaries of high yields all throughout the map of every ethnic and tribal persuasion.
- Estimate the release will be middle or end of this summer.

CAMPAIGN MAP

The game world will span from Constantinople and Egypt all the way east to Afghanistan and Northern India.

Here are some screens of the Campaign Map I have completed so far. Note that some regions (afghanistan, india) still have their climate and ground types in progress.

EGYPT

ANATOLIA AND THE CAUCUSUS

THE FERTILE CRESCENT

PERSIA

AFGHANISTAN

HIMALAYAS

The map is still in progress and will be completed soon. I would appreciate info on medieval provinces around Persia, India and Afghanistan.

FACTIONS

[Muslim]
- The Sultanate of Egypt:

Your first faction leader will be Saladin, historically representing Egypt after he seized it.

- The Abbasid Caliphate:
Represents the Caliphate under An-Nasir, the first and last strong and independent Caliph that overthrew the Seljuks

- The Great Seljuks:
Represents the nomadic turkish empire that took over the mid-east but will be very large and unweildy at first (like the Seleucids from RTR)

- The Turkish Sultanate
They are the Turks of Anatolia, from the Rum Turks all the way down to the Ottomans, I expect them to be a clone of current vanilla Turks.

- The Shahdom of Khwarezm
They are the ascendant Persian kingdom starting in northern Iran. They will be a very important faction and the centerpiece of the this mod.

- The Sultanate of Ghazni
They are basically the Afghan/Turkish faction that was based in the valleys of Afghanistan.

- The Sultanate of Delhi
They are the Indian Muslim faction that will start in north India.

- The Volga Bulgars
They are the Muslim faction of the far north. They will basically be a hybrid of mongols and turks and have mainly cavalry units.

[Christian]
- The Byzantine Empire
Basically a clone of the vanilla one

- The Kingdom of Jersalem
Represents the latin crusaders kingdom that will start completely surrounded by Egypt under Saladin.

- ***The Kingdom of Armenia *** [CONDITIONAL]
Basically Cilician Armenia, will start with Adana. ***I can include them only if someone is willing to help out.

- ***The Kingdom of Georgia *** [CONDITIONAL]
They will start at the Caucusus with Tbilisi, freshly independent from Seljuk rule. ***I can include them only if someone is willing to help out.

[Emergent]

- The Crusaders
They will be scripted to enter the map from either Constantinople or at Acre when Jerusalem is captured by a Muslim faction. They will have 1 to 3 super experienced stacks and will attack egypt. Of course thats if these things can be scripted.

- The Mongol Empire
The same as the vanilla except worse. They will spawn north of Samarkand and will come in more than 6 stacks. They will be very very tough and will be worst for the Khwarezm. This will be softened by the fact that the faction has plenty of lands in India, south Persia, and the Caucusus to fall back on.

- The Timurids
The same as thye vanilla except not as bad. They will spawn in the middle of Persia and will have 2 or 3 stacks at most. But will have a super duper general named - you guessed it - Timur the Lame.

[Hindu]

- ***The Rajput States *** [CONDITIONAL]
They will start south of the Sultanate of Delhi and will be a formidable faction to that will seek to retake India from the invading Muslims. Will have their own Hindu priests too. ***I will include them only if someone is willing to help out.

!HELP WANTED!

- I need creative skinners who are interested in making new and unique eastern units.

- I need battle historians that can tell me what units, banners and geneological names I can use.

- I need creative, artistic dudes that can make banners and faction symbols.

Hi mirage41,
Nice and a pleasant surprise to see you here. I like the idea of Boken Crescent and hope to play this mod in a couple of months time. Sorry that I can't help for I know nothing about modding but I'm sure to be a faithful fan. Eastern factions and especially the Turks are my favourites. Good luck and regards!

Will definately do that my friend. When the time arrives, I will change my sig to Broken Crescent to help promote your mod but I need someone to provide me with one. It's going to be exciting times ahead. Happy modding.

Very nice units, looks like a fun mod. But I have to say you shouldn't call a unit "Faris cavalry" since basically it means "Horseman Cavalry". Oh and the Abbasids should have the Futtuwa: Warriors following a religious "chivalry"-esque code. In Bagdhad they were the only unit outfitted with crossbows (they were equipped by the Caliph) and I think they wore a red and white uniform reminiscent of the robes worn by the Abbasids' arch enemies, the Assassins (who you could include).

Also one thing I would suggest is the use of various types of different "valor banners", for an example Islamic banners with the double-bladed sword of Ali or Koran quotes, or christian banners with crosses or pictures of saints or just heraldry and so on.

Keep up the good work lads! Love the artwork on some of those shields (slight shield fetish). What kind of research do you need? I think koran passages would be brilliant if possible on the banners. I haven't managed to get the money for this game yet but will have in the next 2 weeks. Score! Can you make different banners for different generals?
