Does EB assign the rebel capitol or it is random because if it is assigned we should assign this city we cannot reach as the rebel capitol ... I have read elsewhere that this city has a tendency of creating some unusual armies and by placing it where we cannot reach it then it will never become an issue.

So what the heck is the point of this town in the middle of no where if you arnt allowed to reach it?

I'm really curious too. I suppose there must be a reason but I'm scratching my head at the moment trying to figure out what it is.

And why go through the trouble of placing a character there as well? Is there a reason for that?

Does it have something to do with endless rebels spawning and trekking across the desert?

Or is it a distraction for the AI since it's attracted to rebel cities?

You mean the one in the sahara? I believe its just there to allow the map to work out, so they can have the area were the saba are, and the provinces farther down the nile.

That makes sense but why is it inaccessible?

So no one will conquer it. Historically no one did conquered it. The logistics of sending an army across the desert would have made it an almost impossible venture. With little or no reward at the end, it wouldn't even be worth the effort.
Someone argued that even the province of Arabia on the peninsula should be made impassable for armies. And that it's capital be made unconquerable. It wold be more logical not to have the AS or Ptolies cross the desert to get on eachothers throats, but take the long way skirting the desert.

Only Alexander the Great crossed a desert with an army on his return trip from India. It was one of the most grueling journeys ever taken by an army. Luckily he had already conquered Persia since the army that reached more hospitable territory wasn't in any shape to fight a war afterwards.

Sahara is not meant to be conquered as no one did. Unfortunately we cannot properly show the logistical aspect of war so this is a different approach to the matter. The Arabian interior province might be reworked so it is also unconquerable. MTW2 luckily has Impassable terrain.

As for the character, he is there as a "condition" for the script to trigger a few things I think.

Interesting, So basically it was a creative fix for a a hardcoded terrain issue.
