    Default Installing Multiple Mods

    Just a quick query:

Can I install multiple mods. I have M:TW + VI installed and am currently using the XL mod but I fancy a look at P + M however, i don't want to lose XL.

If I install both will they both work?

    thanks

    Hi Don Esteban,
I think it is possible somehow if you extract your XL save games, uninstall M:TW, re-install it and copy the M:TW folder and paste it. Hopefully, then on one version you could install the great XL, place your saved game back where you found it in that folder and then on the other version install Pike and Musket. If then you make a shortcut to the copied version's .exe file you hopefully could have a shortcut to each and play each one through each of the shortcuts. Sadly, I have no real idea what I am talking about, I have not looked in the M:TW folder, and, being at work, I unfortunately don't have it with me to look, so you will have wait for Martok to come along before you can be totally sure. Sorry about my uncertainty, good luck, cheers!

    Quick answer is NO.

P&M TW is a total conversion so changes almost everything in the game.

The best solution is to copy your MTW VI folder to a different location and THEN install there PMTW.

All you need is to change the direction of instalation when adding PMTW and create a new shortcut to the desctop to your new game.

Both games will run using the same CD, so no worries.

You can have as many copies of MTW on the same drive as you want.

In case of PMTW I suggest creating TWO new folders - one for SIngle PLayer mode and the second for the MP/Custom Mode - they are notably different - MP/CP mode has another 4 new factipns impossible to find in SP and about 100 new units including Uzbek mounted infantry on camels, Ethipian imperial guards and Iroquis 'berserkers'.

If you like you can try ALL the mods at the same time, as long as you will use clear, unmodded MTW VI installation - I suggest to leave a folder with the vanilla game and copy it when you want to try a mod.

Great thanks! I look forward to trying it.

I used to have around ten maybe eleven MTW folders. Each however big they normally are. All of which were modded in one way or another, even my supposed 'vanilla' version. You've got Samurai Warlords, Hellenic - Total War, Fall of Rome, MedMod, XL, BKB's Super Mod, Middle Earth Total War for MTW, Silmarillion - Total War and as you say P&M. And don't forget Napoleonic - TW. The list goes on.

All however were wiped clean in the Great Re-Formatting of 2004, or was it '03, I've forgotten. But my point is still there, many good mods, all of which are equal, but some are more equal than others. ^_^
Now I only stick to Samurai Warlords.

Try using the JSGME to run multiple mods on one MTW install
