once you are looking at the model in milkshape. armored sergeants for example, open the windows and click texture working window.
from there you can remap the shield textures to give your unts a more unique look.

you can also change the shield from a kite shield to anyshield in the game. making sure ofcaorse you can the model.db, have the texture in the right folders and remap the textures. Lots of opertunity here for some realy unique units, just be patient in making em work.

also i am bugging grumpy alot (although i know he loves it) LOL. to help me out more in understanding this tool and uv remaping. (im almost there) once i get a totaly unique character created i'll post a tutorial on everything involved so everyone can understand this better.
