Post Hosted Modification Forums - ideas for conditions

    Hi guys,
I'm sorry about this thread, after all it is from a non-modder who does not know the differences between a .dds file, .tga file or an xpaker, so I don't really feel as if have the right to speak. Yet, out of my fear of some problems emerging in the future, I believe that perhaps it may be time to create a few rules on when a great public hosted mod forum should be granted to a modder who desires one.

The ideas, probably awful, I, the Org's resident idiot, did design them after all, I have in mind may be a little strict or even not strict enough for you modding guys, so if you wish to, you can add anything you like and I will add it on. Of course this is just an idea in development so if you are on the staff you don't have to feel pressurised to follow this idea which I have in mind.

I was thinking along the lines of
    • At least 40% (or possibly more) of a mod team could possibly be required for a forum. These mod team members have to show they are strongly motivated and are dedicated to their cause and have plenty of time to do so. Also perhaps they should have to show the characteristics of a good modder as shown in this thread.
    • As suggested in Duke John's sticky, a design document could possibly have had to been set up. It could be required to state the time period, the place and the summery of conflicts as are stated in the sticky. Also the mod's aims could have to be made clear to the staff granting the forum and the public.
    • The mod could possibly have had to have been announced in the forge and have lived there for a while, perhaps about two weeks, with a reasonable amount of interest shown, perhaps at least fifteen people? I'll let you modding guys and experts decide on that one! Also a mod forum could perhaps be offered, if not asked, to any modification with a thread over five pages - maybe a sort of a promotion to hosted?
Do you guys think this idea would work? Thanks, cheers!

From what I can gather, the Org staff already have their own strict restrictions on which mods they allow to have their own hosted forum. And they are doing a good job. The mods with forums tend to be well supported or have a number of respected modders on the team, which is why they gain their own little forum. I wouldn't have thought there is much need for a specific set of rules and conditions as they have it covered already. And besides, if your mod is truly destined to be a success, it will have support already without the Org's additional help. 95% of mods despite their early promises of features and committed members turn out to nothing more than vapour anyway. By rewarding those that have show continued promise, you know the mod is worthy of note. Anyway, there are only so many resources to go around and there are other places you can ask for hosting if you think your mod needs the extra help.

    Hi General Boreaus Brittanicus,
Yes, all of those staff are doing a good job, I do not deny that - they are doing a wonderful and perfect job in their field. The issue that influenced me to raise this mater was the matter of modification(s) lacking a team, no past experience and little or no popularity getting a forum - and it sadly was not approved by the actual great modding staff. Of course my opinion is very humble in this field, yet I would have suggested that the modification in question could have waited and not gone a little bit too far too soon when a public forum was not really required at that time? I'm very sorry about my conflicting opinion, yet I don't feel that mods should jump from thread to forum in less than 48 hours.

Listen, i know your talking about my mod having a hosted forum. You dont have to be so full of critiscsicm for something you know very little about.

So i would thank you for not being so criitical. Everyone has a right to do things in their own way. Whil i respect your opinion, i would ask you in future to reveal who you are talking about.

    Gracias Senor

Sorry if I came over that way, yet don't worry yourself - I am talking about modding in general, rather than just your modification in particular. My apologies if I offended you.
