Thread: Seboz recruitment Question

    Default Seboz recruitment Question

I'm playing sweboz right now and I have recently taken and established gov's in Vindelicopidos and Carrodunum (sp?) however there still seems to be recruitment problems because neither regional nor factional MIC's allow training of any kind of unit.
So I'm wondering if this problems is already known and if it has been fixed in the .81a patch because I haven't loaded that yet? if not I'm guessing it's something left over from when the Sweboz couldn't recruit anything east of their starting position? Any way just thought I'd ask.

    Thanks

Well it seems with a lot of those celtic cities the only unit you can recruit is the slingers, which seems odd to me. Most of the Baltic cities you should have no problem with since they have units at each level of MIC AFAIK. Some of the ones which you may call Baltic may in fact be Slavic in which case you probably need at least L2 or 3 MIC before regional Slavic Spearmen pop up. And then of course there is the awesome Gawjam Bastarnoz with their falx units....

slingers? that's it? how lame. i put in level 3 or four governments just so i c oulc get some regional armies, but to no avail.

i'll upgrade my slav cities to get soe spearmen.

how do you get the germanic lancemen? i saw them on those EB unit cards, but i have yet to see them. are they regional or not?

edit-- ya it is very hard to defend the outlying regions with armies you have to march aaaaalllllll the way across the empire!

I had some recruitment problems in my Sweboz campaign too (before my computer crashed and my blossoming Germanic kingdom was lost to eternity). It was with 0.81a so it's not just your game Tyfus. Also, it isn't only regions east of starting area. I took the settlement to the west, right under Britain, and there were no available units there as well. It's pretty tough to have to bring in levies from the far settlements with long travel times as the Sweboz. I hope there's some sort of quick fix for recruitment issues.

Yeah right now I have a pretty stable kingdom from Hatoz all th way across to the baltic provinces however I am being challenged by the Romans and Epirotes to the south But I'm having trouble moving troops across the whole empire to keep my settlements intact. I feel my campaign may soon be doomed

I found the germans field a very nice range of regional specialities, but they are only available in one province, which limits their use. Either you train them and march them across to where the warzone is, and march them home again to retrain, or you train them and keep them where they are (which is pointless for many, as they tend to be in the german heartland provinces while the wars tend to out on the edges (duh!).
I did get frustrated though by the sheer difficulty of bringing together suitable armies to face off the romans who poured endless streams of troops through the alps. Things only got worse when I counterattacked and took Mediolanum and Patavium, though at least then there were only 2 bridges I needed to hold, and spamming iosatae and lugoae from those to cities was enough to do the job, if not with style. I gave up on the campaign soon after that as it got a bit dull.

It occurred to me that the Lusotanan are pretty similar to Sweboz in a lot of respects. Start with a single settlement, unique roster, (possible recruitment issues) etc. I'm probably gonna' give 'em a try after my current KH campaign.

I was also thinkig about Lusotanan or maybe Getai, but i will probably chose Lusotanan. They were good wariors and under command of Hannibal they were able to crush Roman forces( he won battle at Cannae largely thanks to their abilities). So let us see! But at first i have to finish my Roman campaign

No wonder why Sweboz use those pesky little rodents so extensively in my campaigns...
