E.B. PBeM

Hi, I have been looking over the PBeM threads in the throne rome and noticied that there do not seem to be any for E.B. I was just wondering if anybody else would be interested in doing it. I am thinking of doing one for either K.H, Epiros or Quarthadstim, as these are the three most democratic factions in the game with the except for the Romans, whom I don't really like.

As regards house rules and parliments ect. I am entirley open to sugestions but I had thought of something along the lines of:

All faction members participate in yearly elections to nominate characters to certain posts.
Governors of cities would make the decisions for building and recruitment.
No building or recruiting in cities without governors and no auto manage.
All captain and non human controled battles to be atuo resolved.
Debates for military policy to be held twice yearly.


Please note that these are merley ideas an sugestions and that all are welcome to put forth their own ideas.

Interesting idea, but Epiros wasn't a democracy, was it?
Pyrrhos was King of Epiros, not president IIRC.

Yes, I'm afraid that Pyrrhus was very much a king in the traditional Epirote and Macedonian style.

Well anyway I have thought some more on the matter and decided to run one as the Qarthadastai is anybody is intersted please post here or P.M. me. I am looking to get four or five peolple to start as that is the number of characters present at the games start.

A few other things I forgot to say yesterday, I would run the game on BI.exe using a modified edu for shield wall and schiltrom, but other than that it is pretty much E.B. "vanilla" except for a few things like ptolemaoi kelrouchoi agemata that I have changed. Also I have altered the edb to limit, heavy libyans, elite african infantry and iberian asault infantry to post marian times.

I don't have my Epirus book here at hand, but I do believe the epeirote government (some sort of assembly or council of the tribes) voted to vest power in Pyrrhus and approved his son as successor when he died. It certainly wasn't strictly speaking a democracy, but it was closer to one than any of the other Hellenistic monarchies (maks, ptolies, seleuks, baktria). I don't have anything to check this with for the time being, but someone else might be able to provide more details.

I'm a little confused as to which version of EB u are using, 0.81a hotfix + some personal touches? it might be hard to get people with an obscure version of the game.

last time I played EB there were a lot of unit cards missing, but that could be a bad install.

I'm intending to use the E.B. 0.81a full install with a custom EDU and EDB which I would email to intereted players. However I'm willing to use a plain 0.81a build if this is stopping people from joining. You don't want to join by any chance do you Stuperman?

Hi fondor as I said above it will be for E.B 0.81a with an edited EDU and EDB if the players agree to this. I am thinking that I will run the campaign for the Qarthadstim but I am prepared to listen to arguments for pretty much all of the civilzed mediterranean factions.

I originally suggested this I think back before 0.8 was released so, I'l join I guess, there also was a vote in the story/pbem forum... Here it is.

Also what changed EDU are you using, didn't think the team released a changed EDU.

If someone can send me the edu and give me atleast a decent amount of info on where to insert it i should be good and definately in. Its good to see one for Eb considering the immense amount of work that goes into the mod. personally i'd suggest the Getai. It seems like the tarabostes system might work relatively well for the game and then its not one of the mainstream cultures

OK, we seem to have enough people intrested to start thinking it through in more detail. I'm going to te leave it for a few days during which people can put forth their ideas for factions and then I'll run a poll in this thread or prehaps transfer it over to the throne room (what do people think).

So far I'm still thinking of doing the Qarthadastim but others have suggested the Getai and I'm open to futher sugestions. As I said above I will run a poll in a few days.

Also a few more details in exactly what I have changed:

Improved the ptolies elite phalanx to match the argyrispiadai
Given shield wall to all over hand spearmen
Given shield wall to all close combat "civilized" infantry
Given shield wall to several "Barbarian" units, escepcialy the Sweboz.
Given shiltrom to most levy spearmen, barbarian and civilized.
Given warcry to the more impetous barbarian units.
Given all generals +1 attack, secondary attack, armour and defence skill compared to the standard unit (To similuate the bodygaurds being the best and best equiped)
Given armoured elephants more armour.
Given the mahuts for armoured elephants armour (unfortunatley this dosen't have a model but you would not spend so much on an elephant just to have it go on a rampage because its mahut is dead).
Increased unit size of thurephoroi like units to 100 and cost proportionaly.
Increased clasical hoplites to 100 and cost proportionaly.
Reduced Ilyroi thurephoroi's CC stats but gave them much more amunition. (see unit description)
Given indian elephants +1 misile attack +10 range.

Made Qarthadastim wait for vanilla marian reforms to access: Libyan and Liby-Phonecian heavy infantry, and elite african pike and swords men. Also have to wait for iberian asault infantry.

Why?

The above are mearly what I choose to do in my games and I was sugesting it - what is adoptes for the game is to be decided between all the members on a poll in a few days time.
