Re-Install Help?

I've just dusted off and re-installed RTW to 1.1.

I'm hoping for some opinions as to how much farther to patch it and what mods are now the best for pursuing.

Been over a year since I've played the game.

Hi eugeni and welcome,
May I suggest that you patch up to 1.2 and then 1.5. These patches both fix many nasty bugs with the game which can completely mess it up. However, I recommend that you play with patch 1.2 if you wish to play with the Roman factions. 1.5 introduced a nasty civil war bug, which, although I have never experienced it, has the capabilities to destroy games.

If you wish to play great modifications the then ones that you might like and which I have enjoyed that cover the same/similar great time period to R:TW would be:
Europa Barbarorum (0.8.1a) Requires Patch 1.5
Rome: Total Realism (1.5 PE or 6.0 GE) Requires Patch 1.5 (PE) or 1.2 (GE)
Roma Surrectum Requires Patch 1.5

I agree with Omanes and another good mod is (all though it has not been released yet) Ran No Jadai ( it is worth waitng fo its release )

Yeah I agree with both Omanes and Oscar. EB is great, No Jidai looks spectacular if I were you keep a regular eye on that until release it will be fantastic.
