I've never had a problem with inquisitors. In fact I've had guys found innocent at trial before. 1 priest per province and always having the church building maxed is the best policy.

If you havin' skyrim problems I feel bad for you son.. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one.
VENI, VIDI, NATES CALCE CONCIDI
I came, I saw, I kicked ass
i never see the plague of inquisitors like some, every now and then i get popped, but i am always kissing the popes arse
And when the brazen cry of achilles
Was heard among the trojans, all their hearts
Were troubled, and the full-maned horses whirled
The chariots backward, knowing griefs at hand...
I've had plenty of inquisitor attacks with perfect relations with the Pope. It's particularly bad if you take over a territory that had them already. They even post-patch don't seem to be able to differentiate between the godless heathens you just killed and your papal favorites.
In that case, the Box of 8 is your best friend.
Inquisitors also seem to teleport.
Only a few turns after I had (as Spanish) conquered Caribeean island and recruited my first priest - an Inquisitor tuns up.
Did the Pope send a fleet - nope. The Inquisitor spontaneously generated.
They don't teleport, they magically appear out of thin air. 1 per province up to a max of 40, if the config files are to be believed.Originally Posted by Rozanov
Also the other poster was correct, perfect relations with the pope don't matter, it's the level of catholicism in your territories. Low catholic faith draws Inquisitors like flies to you know what.

I'm with Sabutai, I used to get nailed by inquisitors on a regular basis. But since I started keeping the Pope in my back pocket via regular donations, I very rarely see the nasty little fellas (in my own territory anyway).
Maybe just coincidence, but I don't think so.
Egit : just seen Whackers post, and he may be right. As part and parcel of me keeping on the Pope's good side, I tend to build more churches too. Seems about right.

A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn. - Blackadder

Those roving "god squads" that people suggest using are really what save my butt. Usually I can expand in a manner that distances myself from Pope territories so even if I capture something that's really low catholicism, the "god squad" can jack that up to the 80's or 90's in a turn or two, and my box of 8 can take care of any stray inquisitors.Originally Posted by Slug For A Butt

maybe i have just been lucky, but i read about them before i got the game...so i give money and always do crusades and pope missions...i'v never had bad relations exept as portugal and had to fight spanish longer than i thought, but i quickly improved them
but i would assume whacker is right...many things just seem random in this game, but i bet as he said low catholic % would lead to them popping in your province
a side not, i have been really lucky in my current hungary game, every guy i adopt is like a friggin monk...great piety

Inquisitors teleport in, I teleport them out![]()
