Not the most well designed website, but it pretty much puts across good points for what i have believed for a long time - everything will come to an end once we begin to run out of fossil fuels, which is going to be very soon.
What do you think? Is the end nigh?

Think I've seen that before, and I also think we've discussed it a while ago, too... I think the general consensus is that we're not really gonna run out of oil that soon, and also, there's more oil that's available, just not very practical to extract it now. However, in some 50 years, it's reasonable to expect that technology will have improved enough to allow extraction of that oil, as well.
Also, I don't really believe in the suddenly-run-out-of-oil scenario... It seems to me more likely that when the oil will start to be getting really scarce, people will gradually start reducing its use... rather than all of a sudden not using it at all.
Then evergy consumption restrictions will start being imposed, and a bunch of other similar measures - all of which will give us several more years...
Besides, with all this global warming thing, winters may become really warm, and we won't need that much energy to keep warm!

It won't run out though, it'll just become more expensive. Bad for the Chinese guys, not as bad for us rich Westerners. In the meantime governments will finally be forced to take it seriously, which they'll do by threatening car companies until they start producing proper alternatives. There's plenty of coal about for electricity production, and that can be used fairly cleanly. And there's always nuclear...
Interestingly, if nuclear power took off in a big way, there's only 90 or so years of uranium left. So some of the reactors will have to be built to use up the spent fuel as well. Who bets no one bothers?

There's another 3,000 years worth of that, which is a real shame.

well, good thing we still have thousands of years of fossil fuels to go through before we run out. Nothing im going to start worrying about.

They didn't even get the peak oil concept right, so why should I trust a bunch of 'the sky is falling' loons, eh?

Oil is running a bit scarcer these days, that's not a bad thing, we've really been wasting energy this last century or so. The industry will adapt and will implement more energy efficient measures, they're already doing that anyway so the price of actually used energy will probably remain about the same. Oil prices will rise until it will become feasible to extract them from those hard to get places and still make money.
There will probably be a future for alternative energy too, oil is far too fantastic for what it's used these days, nothing else (that i know off) has as much energy on a volume or mass basis, which makes it excellent for use in transport or mobile applications. For more stationary applications other energy sources can provide part of the power, we just need a good battery system to keep the net in balances, we're sadly lacking a decent solution right now.
Biofuels won't solve our oil problems, but they'll help a little, I see them mostly as a an aid for farmers, but they're really a win win product, except for CO2 emissions.
