Post Princesses - do they get cut off by border forts

    Hi guys,
Sorry about the long thread title and about my irritant to you all, yet, I am, as you probably guessed, your latest resident M:TW noob, and idiot, who knows little about the game, I can't tell the difference between a prince and a king, and is always losing battles. However, I just started an Early Campaign and I have allot of princesses wandering around doing very little useful. I want to marry them off to my neighbours, the French, to insure an alliance, if that is possible - I'm too scared to send those ladies across the borders to test it out of fear of any border forts the enemy may posses killing them off! So, may I ask, can you send your princesses across borders without forts getting them and halting their advances. I'm sorry to annoy you guys like this with my nobbish question, all advise appreciated, thanks, cheers!

Hey Omanes, good to see you made it over here! No worries about asking questions, regardless of how stupid you may think they are. That's partially what the rest of us are here for, after all.

cegman is correct, though. Princesses need not fear border forts. In fact, the only agents that do need to worry about passing BF's are spies and assassins. All other agents -- princesses, emissaries, imams, inquisitors, etc. -- can pass freely between provinces without hinderance.

They could be knocked off by an assassin, though. Granted, it seems that the ai has better targets then them, but it has happened. Make sure to use 'em quick also, while they still have "value".

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

    Hey Omanes, welcome!

greaterkhaan raises a very valid point - princesses have a limited shelf life. If you don't find a use for them by the time they turn 35 (I believe it's 35 - someone may care to confirm or correct this), then they become spinsters and are removed from the game.

Another use for your pricesses is to marry them off to your generals. This improves the loyalty of the general.
