Aedui buying up all my provinces

My old allies, the Aedui had betrayed me and sought to seize my lands, But the Sweboz people wont take this without a fight, we have killed them in their tens of thousands, we have also captured 3 of their provinces, while holding off the Romans to the south, The Macedonians to the southeast.
Now as each season passes, they send a diplomat with wagons of gold and riches, they are buying all my cities, my family members are deserting me in droves, cities with 2000 warriors desert their people.

Where are they getting all this money ?, I have 21 provinces, they have but 7 left, they are fielding 4-5 company armies of naked fanatics, and bribing cities with family members and armies over 2000 in number.
Is this supposed to happen or is it a glitch ?

You could spam assassins and kill their diplomats whenever you see them. I'm not sure on the 'glitch' question though, never really had any problems with bribery.

As Antisocialmunky said, I always keep what I like to call "the black hand of god" squad in my borders, meaning 2 or 3 trained assasins that will Kill on sight any enemy diplomats. I f they want to propose peace they can contact any of my Generals...if they are going to my cities..I assume they don't have good intentions.

Also, put a diplomat in each of your cities, it helps a bit against briberies. Oh and the quicker you Kill the Aedui, the better.

The money comes from the EB background script. The AI gets something like 1400 Mnai per turn/held settlement, with seven provinces that's 9800 Mnai per turn, minus the cost of upkeep for whatever troops their fielding.

Best part is that if you manage to destroy their armies. A general of theirs will come at you with a full stack of mercs on the next turn, cause they can't run out of cash.
