EB Not Working

Hi all, I tried my best to follow instructions people gave me, including copying the RTW folder, patching, installing the .81 version (I couldn't find the .80 version, so I assumed that I was supposed to just download the current version). Unfortunately, when I try to start EB up, it gets me to the screen with the hoplites in the background and all the logos and copyrights, but then suddenly, it quits. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong/ what's happening? Thanks.

Firstly, paitence young padawan.

Secondly, there is no screen of hoplites when starting up EB, you are instead starting up vanilla RTW. Seeing as vanilla RTW is crashing it would suggest that there is something wrong with that install.

Delete the copy of RTW which you have used to install EB onto, and then start up a game of normal RTW 1.5 from your backup copy of RTW. If that works copy it as before under a new name. Install EB0.81a over the top. Start the game using the shortcut that will appear on your desktop. It will take a while to load probably, but while it is loading it should show the EB campaign map with the faction symbols round the outside.

OK 19 views and nobody has helped you, so I will try... First of all, make sure you follow the instructions in this thread to the letter. If that does not work, you may suffer froma corrupt download so I suggest that you unistall everything, re-download EB and try again.

EDIT: Oh, it seems Foot beat me to it, if his advice doesn't work follow mine, and make sure you patched in the proper order, (1.2, 1.3, 1.5).

Shit, I did 1.3 than 1.5, but it says 1.5 on the options screen, so it seems good to me. Also, vanilla works fine for me, it's just when I load EB when things get messy.

Well thats fine, then it is certainly a corrupt download. You will need to download 0.81a again. When you start up EB you won't be seeing the vanilla stuff, as long as you are starting it up from the EB shortcut.
