Default Family members and unrest - questions I always wanted to ask but didnt

How is the number of family members handled? Do adoption opportunities and births become less frequent if you do not keep gobbling up territories? I read somewhere before that the size of your family was roughly proportional to the size of your empire and that seemed to be true, but now I am not so sure for EB. Maybe the size of your family is only limited by how fertile your family is? Could someone clear this up for me, please.

Unrest...is there anyway to affect it? I know that family members have certain traits that directly change a settlement's unrest...but buildings have no affect on unrest, correct? What are all the factors that contribute to unrest?

The size of your family is about the same size as your empire (number of settlement). Children seem to count as a family member, so if you have a lot of young people in your family, there will be a lot of ungoverned city. If you have less guys than number of settlements, you'll get a lot of adoption & man-of-the-hour events. The whole thing is hardcoded.

Family members can increase or decrease unrest with traits. Influence on a general also helps fight unrest. The main two factors are 'squallor' and the generic 'unrest' as far as negatives go. 'Squallor' is caused by too many people living in your city - it can be decreased by building health buildings or increasing the size of your city. 'Unrest' is caused by cultural differences, enemy spies, and little things like rebels/events/fear/unexplainable-weirdness. There is also a 'culture penalty' type of unrest - build buildings that are your culture and tear down their buildings. Oh, and high taxes cause unhappiness.

Im pretty sure it is proportional to the amount of provinces you had. Also, one family member can only have a maximum of 4 (I think) and wont have any kids afte4r this even if they are a crazy adulterer and master of fertility.

unrest is effected by traits, culture, army strength in the town and distance to capital. buildings can add law, happiness, or order (these are usually temples or field of games etc).
