    Default What Luck/Please read!

Playing England for the first time in a while on M/M. On turn 35 my ally France attacked opening my first hostilities. After beating off two minor attacks on Caen and Bruges I took my army fresh from sacking Antwerp and with troops from Caen to make a full stack mixed english/mercenary army I laid seige to Paris. After sacking it turned out it had the King, Faction heir and sole General there causing France to be knocked out of the game. Its now turn 45 I have control of Great Britain, Northern France, Flanders, I have just been elected Pope and I have over 134,000 in gold reserves. Has anyone ever had a game go this well? I'm looking for some advice and am going to hold off playing while others respond to this thread. Spain has knocked out Portugal but does not control Lisbon and Valencia(rebel), but has Tolouse but is not at war with the Moors. Milan has Florence and Dijon but Marsialle and Bordeaux are rebel and Milan is not at war. Denmark has Arhus, Hamburg and Stettin but has not conquered Norway and is not at war. HRE is engaged with Venice and has lost a starting city of Vienna to them. HRE is the only faction above that I am not allied with. How would you go about expanding this situation for the next 25-50 turns? Thanks!

What luck that was, never happens to me. You must be irish.

Generally I'd try to carve an empire with as few hostile borders as possible, that implies taking over scandinavia in particular as England.

But as you have the situation so well in hand perhaps a little variation on just blast em up might in order. Some suggestions.

Play get the other guys excommed , tempt them with a single lame unit to attack, provoke them with outrageuos demands, generaly act like a bully.

Play as a chivalrous king, curry favour with Pope and crusade and attack the heathens, carve an empire in the middle east and wait to face the horde.

See how many heroics victories you can get, don't use steamroller armies, just the minimum to achieve victories.

Basically the beauty of MTW2 is that it allows you to set a lot of secondary interesting goals.

    LOL, Good on ya Henri!

My Advice is to enjoy it whilst it lasts! Cuz as sure as night follows the day it aint gonna last.

But seriously... Make hay whilst the sun doth shine as they say. Gobble up those new rebel provinces ASAP flog those full stack armies and hire mercs if need be but beat your neighbors to the punch.

    Good Luck and Enjoy!

wait for germany to get excom and attack them from the north, take oslo and then piss off the danes and get them excom, then blitz them take lands and put all the armies spare on a boat send them to the middle east and get a crusade called on jeruselam. then take the whole holy land, asia minor, and north africa. after that is finished up train priests convert the pop to get high piety rate. tech all your money makers and troop centers up then beat the mongols and timurids off. after that take russia and easter europe by simultaneously pushing from norther germany and asia minor. if you have the man power take italy and the balkans then you control everything but spain.
