    Default Question about Sidon

Hi all. Just finished my punic campaign and the final step was "liberation" of Sidon. After my troops entered the city a usual message appeared asking me what should be done with the population. I have noticed a "red face" meaning the population is about to rebel. So I had no choice but to massacre my fellow countrymen. So is there anything I can do with the script or smth to make sidonians be more friendly and grateful for their liberation, I don't want to devastate the city. Thanks.

First. Most cities that are recently conquered, if the enemy has had them for a long time will be hostile to you rule.

However some will settle down after you constructed the "Regional Pacification" in your city.

If that dosen't calm them, try lowering taxes to low and install a governor with several order increasing traits and ancillaries.

Either that or increase the garrison.

If none of those work try to keep a strong garrison and governor until you built a few happiness buildings. The higher level of temples are great for this purpose. Unless those happen to be present in the settlement from the conquest. If they were you're out of luck.

You could have enslaved them. Usually if you enslave them, you can get it yellow faced by setting it on low taxes unless they REALLY hate you or you don't have enough money to hire the mercs needed to keep it stable.

Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

    type in the console:

    add_population Sidon -5000

After that, the population on Sidon will be decreased by 5000hab.

That way you don't have to massacre them, they just "disappear". Much more humane.

I guess it is not too polite to say such things especially to a russian.

I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you. Anyway to solve your problems you could send in a governor with a god like influence (not to hard to come by, really) and a master spy as well. If you won't let your inhabitants dissapear, you could always add them back somewhere else. Then they've just moved to your fine city of ... Haven't they?

queue up as many of the cheapest, largest units you can buy (akontisti at 120 men a unit?) and then use the 'process_rq Sidon' cheat to build them all at once. Ship them to somewhere else and disband them. Hey presto - instant colonists! With a queue of 10 units, thats 1200 'colonists' a turn, or more if you use giant unit settings. Of course you can only use the cheat once each time you load the game, so you may need to reload a few times before you have a low enough population...

what do you mean? you can use a cheat as many times as you want... that was an old 1.2 thing.

Interesting. I think I'll do exactly as You advise

Also interesting but unfortunately I can't hire any field units right after capturing Sidon. There are only ships available which are costly.
    Thanks for great solutions, guys
