I would suggest to built up your economy first by taking some key settlements. In the north I would conquer patavium, Segestica (mines) and Massallia (sea trade). Also conquer the 2 islands to your west and take libeo. Then built up your cities, military and so on... until the time is right to strike back.

I always liked the "mare nostrum" principle the romans used and tried to reflect this in my ongoing campaign. Note that I conquered Karalis once, but lost it to the Kart-hadast... a new army is currently laying seige![]()
