    Everyone's a barbarian to someone.

Basically the mod started off as a team of enthusiasts and knowledgeable people who wanted to inform CA about the "barbarian" factions that were going to be in RTW (this is before RTW came out). Europa Barbarorum represents that focus. Of course, when we became a full mod it seemed pertinent, especially given the subtitle, to keep the title and show all factions equally, because everyone was a barbarian to someone.

"Europa Barbarorum" means Europe of the Barbarians. "Quisque est barbarus alio" means everyone's a barbarian to someone.

    Well, more specifically "to another".

It used to be aliquo, from aliquis, which means someone. It has been changed to alio, from alius, which means another.

Everyone is a barbarian to another.

I guess you could argue that the title is somewhat of a reliable marker of the mod's inherent focus. Not that the mod is overly focused on barbarians as such (except in the "to another man" sense) but it is true that there is much of an effort to give the Celts and other "fringe" factions like the Armenians/Hay or the Sarmatians better treatment both in terms of historical accuracy and in terms of unique and interesting gameplay, as opposed to accepting the Latin/Hellenic paradigm and making a game that is, consciously or not, centred on those areas. In EB, the most obvious marker of the shift is the expanded game map.

Rabbit heartily recommends these EB AARs.

With all that has gone into and continues to go into the Hellenic factions also (I can speak to that personally, instead of speaking for hellenic/roman/carthaginian as a whole), I don't think we can be surpassed even in the traditionally "civilized" factions either, btw. But you're right Rabbit on the whole with your comment.
