    Default Harold: I'll be baaack.

Stop worrying about Iran and Liechtenstein and get really afraid: it looks like Harold has resurfaced and starting convincing his fellow sheep of a new scheme.

Vigilante attack sheep guard British village

Ruthless 'pack' trained and ready to kill
    By Lester Haines

Anyone among you thinking of paying a visit to the Gloucestershire village of Leighterton with the intention of burgling the good burghers of that little piece of rural England might want to pick another target, The Sun suggests.

That's because Leighterton is protected by 60-year-old retired farmworker Keith Clifford and his herd of "highly-trained" attack sheep. And in case you're willing to laugh off the threat posed by the 24 ovine vigilantes, bear in mind that Keith has raised them from birth to strike without mercy - a fact attested by The Sun's promotion of the woolly Ninjas from "flock" to ruthless wolf-style "pack".

Keith's dog Birdie does the recon work, then orders in the pack to eliminate the threat. Keith said: "Normally sheep run away if they are frightened, but these don't. They are more than capable of handling themselves."

Mercifully, the sheep-pack has not yet been used in anger. The thought of a couple of behoodied ne'er-do-wells being torn limb from limb in a lanoline-lubricated killing frenzy is too horrible to contemplate.

Now, if he can combine these attack sheep with his theories on ovine aviation, we are in big trouble.

Ah, so these new commando sheep are highly trained but yet to be tested in combat, eh? Maybe he could sell them to the US government for testing in Iraq or something. Maybe our government should hire Keith Clifford to come over here and bolster the numbers in our armed forces with sheep. Then we won't have as much trouble when we invade Australia.

    And Lemur:

Thats the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!

Black Sheep looks like it has a lot of potential for shear terror as well as wild and wooly humour.

We can consider ourselves lucky that sheep will never be good with guns. They'd only ever manage to graze their targets.

    Scientists Make Part-Human Sheep

    CBN News, March 26, 2007

A bio-ethical debate is raging at a Nevada university, where scientists have created the world's first sheep with half-human organs.

University of Nevada Professor Esmail Zanjani has spent seven years perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into sheep fetuses.

This caused the animals to be born 15-percent human.

Scientists say this development will make it easier to use animal organs when people need transplants.

Professor Zanjani has already created a sheep liver that has a large proportion of human cells. He eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep.

But the development is likely to revive criticisms about scientists playing God.

Some fear the possibility of silent viruses -- harmless in animals -- being introduced into the human race.

Dr. Patrick Dixon, an international lecturer on biological trends, warned, "Many silent viruses could create a biological nightmare in humans. Mutant animal viruses are a real threat, as we have seen with HIV."

In that article that's the only worthy argument I see in a quick skim - the only thing to keep in check if necessary.

The part about "playing God" is-- ah, forget about it. If they succeed at fullfilling their plan of human organs in sheep and do everything safely, it's good for humanity as in survival. "Playing God", peh! Don't make me laugh! Humans have been "playing God" for as long as we can remember, whether it be modern science or imperial conquest or whatever.
