    Default Your Best Moments!

    Hello

The best part about this game, and what makes it so great,
is that you could write books about stuff that happens in the game.
I'm sure that everybody had it's moments and could talk about it.

Even if I'm a TW-fan since Shogun, and played all games in the series (expansions included) the whole way trough,
it's nothing compared with what I experience in Med2.

For instance, my favorite moment (or story) is that of Guillemont the Chivalrous.
I started the game with England, and I sent my princess to a french general in Angers.
His name was Guillemont De Lyon, he married the princess and he emmediatly converted to England.

Then the Pope called for a Crusade to Jerusalem.
I only trusted Guillemont for this mission because of his high loyalty. Not only that, but he had great stats too.
He landed with his massive army (mostly consisting of those religious freaks with capes and little sticks) in Acre,
conquered it and also Jerusalem. It was quite easy and he was emmediatly renamed to Guillemont The Crusader.

After that I went to conquer the surrounding settlements like Gaza, Damascus, Antioch etc.
Damascus failed and I couldn't leave my massive army from Jerusalem 'cause it could trigger riots.
And Damascus had a fully filled army flag so it wasn't going to be easy to get under control (I prefer sacking it).
So I took Guillemont The Chivalrous to Alepo, a low defended settlement, easy to take, the odds were
    greatly in my favor.

The enemy was outnumbered. They only had light armored soldiers and archers.
I was winning the battle. I sent Guillemont to finish the job. Then the unthinkable happened ...
he was slain by a bunch of exhausted peasants with low morale.

I must admit that it was a little shock to me. My greatest general still, killed by peasants.

Offcourse I took revenge, about a 100 years later I exterminated the people of Alepo and Damascus, taking
over those settlements under de command of King Aelfgar the Dreadful, the worst king you can possibly imagine.
He has all the worst retinues and stats there must be in this game, he likes men, he drinks, he gambles,
he kills everyone who says something he doesn't agree with, has penalties against assassination attempts, etc.

And know he has the black death and still won't die. Offcourse his son, Prince Jhon, who looked really promising,
he did die, even tough i kept him safe in London.

    -----------

So, what were your great experiences in this game?

I've put this game away for a bit to try out MTW VI again but MTW2 is a very very fun game for sure.

I've had several great moments, most of which in battle. One that comes to mind is my final conquest of the stubborn Scottish. When I first started the game I was England, and it took me 3 invasions to beat them. For one reason or another, we would only be able to knock out one of their armies, but I'd be too weak to finish them off or I'd be routed myself.

It made it all the sweeter win I finally did when and I exterminated the populaces of both Inverness and Edinburgh

    I know I'm evil.

My greatest moment was when i was France and i had a LOT of spare money so i made exactly 8 stacks of peasents leaded by 2 generals. I invaded Portugal who only had 4 provinces left, I swarmed each province stack after stack after i crushed 3 of their provinces i still gor 4 stacks of peasents and one general the other died from riad of arrows. At the end i captured there castle just in time before my last 2 peasent unit cards died off. dont mess with my peasents

lol yeah, peasant aren't bad in great numbers. I attacked a city once with almost 2000 of'm. They were like ants.

When it's foggy you can flank the enemy without them seeing you. I placed my crossbow in their rear and kept shooting on them, and they didn't move. I won that battle with 0 casulties.

Also, yesterday, the Pope asked me to brake an alliance with Sicily 'cause they were excommunicated. I didn't want to do that 'cause alliances are hard to get. So I assassinated the Pope with my best assassin (maxed subterfuge) with still only 18% change of succes. Just lovely when you control fate

I marched my elite army of English swordsmen into Milan, only to be crushed by a medium sized army of battle-hardened pavise crossbow men and militias.

I managed to destory all but 3-5 units of crossbow men before my army routed and was slaughtered in mass. My general and his escort of about three-four men remained.

As there were only four men, I didn't need to properly set up for a quick calvary charge, as long as I had the distance. One enemy unit of crossbow men was marching towards me. The odds of my victory were 1%, "Defeat is certain, only a military genius could win this batte!".

I charged the unit, lances and all, and completely slaughtered them. This triggered the rest of Milan's forces to attack my general in the streets. I repeated this tactic.

There were two units of crossbowmen left, one was routing towards the town square, the other heading towards me. I only had my general and one escort left, so I planned to withdraw from battle. The crossbow men chased me outside the walls, and the towers opened fire on me. Fearing I could not escape, I bravely charged into the fray of arrows and bolts, and tossed the remaining unit into the air. They immediately routed. As the remaining units were also routing at that time, I was granted victory, and won the settlement!

My best moment was my best battle in terms of odds. I had a ragtag crusader army with about 10 units. My heir was in it down to half men and the rest of the army were all bad mercs like bosnian archers and pilgrims all of which did not have greater than 2/3 men. I faced against a 16 unit byzantine stack containing their king with 9 command, 4 or 5 various HAs, 6 or 7 top level militia, and the rest trebizond archers. It was a river battle but the ai held missle superiority. The battle was long, but in the end my general survived and my 400 strong army of poor mercs beat a 1200+ top quality army with only about 200 losses
