Here we go again guys. Who deserves to win the "Screenshot of the Month" contest!?

These are arranged in no coherent or real order - you can see how titles do help. I've left individuals' names off of them at this point. These are the 10 submissions the we've decided to put up for the vote. I've set this poll to expire in five days instead of seven since we got a late start on this stage of the contest:

    1. "Oh shit..."

    2. "Here we go again"

    3. (no title)

    4. "A roman army looks at the challenges ahead: Nile River, 119 BC. An expedition through Egypt."

    5. (no title)

    6. "Spartan Hoplite charge..."

    7. (no title)

    8. "Bad Day in Samnium"

    9. "In To the Wild"

    10. "Phalanx of the Koinon Hellenon"

You've got to love the energy of that spartan charge. Those spear points in the bottom left remind you of what exactly they are running into. Some serious death is about to take place here. Love it .

"Here we go Again" gets my vote. There is a kind of cinimatic quality to the picture. Its dramatic, creates a sense of movement and impending struggle between units rushing to engage each other. Reminds me a little of that painting of the English squares with the French cavalry flooding round them at the battle of waterloo.

Ditto. I like the one with the Ptolemaic and Seleukid elites too, and the charge of the prodromoi. All very nice.

I put my vote into the Romans in Egypt shot. Looks like the battle is actually even cooler than we can see here, from the general's view in the back. But I love the palms of course , and the skies and lighting effects are nice. #8 would have been my second choice.

    I can't see #7.

EDIT: nevermind, it shows up now. It's nice, would have been very good if the hastati weren't just standing there :-/

    I'm voting #1.

What a cool poll, with everyone (except the one with a text box visible - sorry ) doing very well. Not like most polls around here.

Hmm and it's all the no name ones. Perhaps we should penalise them some votes for not adhering to the rules and naming their pictures

Nah, we still got a few days to vote - we'll see what happens.

Very high quality overall, I must say. Effective use of movie_cam in a lot of the pics. I chose "oh shit" because that's such a fun pic - I'll elaborate in the morning.

3 is gorgeous. There's something inherently dramatic-looking about the struggle of a phallanx.

Nº 3 is my choice :)

voted for #1 but #5 is pretty amazing too. Some of the others were captured with units idle and that doesn't really dramatize a picture while they're just watching the oncoming enemy :) I realize the two are idle in #1 so I guess that blows my argument out of the water but you all understand what I mean I'm sure... or else you'll be smitten of course.

needs a bump, but also deserving of a comment on how amazing the screenshots are, and how close the voting is!
