Thread: Do you like how they do the expansions?

There's been info on the expansion for this game, and it seems people here are generally excited about it, I was just wondering if there's anyone like me who doesn't share their sentiments?

I mean campaigns are fine, but they don't contribute to the main game. I would prefer expansion packs that take the main game, and improve upon it, over 4 lil mini campaigns.

Galactic Civilizations expansion is a good example of it, a expansion that improved greatly on the game, and made it a better game experience than the original.

If I were to choose what kind of expansion I'd want, I'd prefer an expansion that increased the game map to accomodate more towns, added new factions (ie Ireland), increase in unique unit types for the factions, added features, new world events(ie a viking invasion) etc.

I agree with that. But I think CA have always released excellent expansions and Im greatly looking forward to the M2TW one. Everyone including myself seems a bit dubious about these "special abilities" though. As long as CA remember this is Total War and not Warcraft 3.

Wikiman posted some info on that subject at TWC:

As someone earlier said generals all didn't have equal abilities. Some were masters of the battlefield and both sides standing there facing each other knew it. We have just gone someway to represent this. This is one feature out of about 100 added to Kingdoms, I am looking forward to you guys feedback on them once the information starts to flow.
