Just wondering if there's an equivelant to them in this mod, I was going through the faction lists but couldn't find them.

If you found them in XGM, I have to warn you that they are a purely fictional what-if unit as the parthians had a much more cavalry focused roster than the old achmeneid persians...

ok, so is it that this mod has a dif timeline from when they existed? Because they did exist, you can find a wikipedia page on them.
They did exist but they were an elite unit of the defunct achmeneid empire, they disappeared after Alexander conquered the persian empire...

Pretty sure Alexander the Great killed them off. around 400BC would it have been, or later?
ok thanks, yeah, I guess this mod takes place several decades later than their existence.
Alex was in the mid to late 300s, I believe.Originally Posted by Sdragon

Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

Here, it's explained pretty clear what Persian immortals were.

The Seleukid Argyraspidai is the closest you're going to find.Originally Posted by Static
Argyraspidai? They are heavy pikemen or elite super armoured spearmen. The immortals were nothing like that. They would have basicly been Eranshar Arshtbara but with better weapons, armour, training, and so on.Originally Posted by abou

Is he hurt? Everybody asks that. Nobody ever says, 'What a mess! I hope the doctor is not emotionally harmed by having to deal with it.'
What was a unit attached directly to a ruler that constantly numbered 10,000 men, was of the highest quality, and armed with the best equipment? Static asked for an equivalent and this is the closest analog you will find.Originally Posted by Fondor_Yards
Come on, Fondor, please tell me you value my opinion more than that.
Yes but as I see the question, he is asking for for an equivalent eastern style unit for them.Originally Posted by abou

Both are correct: the closest in terms of being 10,000 strong & attached to the royal household is the Argyraspidai
But the closest in terms of equipment used is one of the light eastern unit types.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...
The Baktrian Eranshar Arshtabara with some experience/morale bonuses would be the closest you'd get to the immortals, methinks.
Rabbit heartily recommends these EB AARs.

In terms of equipment(not including armor), the Eranshar Arshtabara is indeed the closest you can get. They have a big spear and they carry a powerful bow. But, they aren't too heavily armored, as the Immortals would have been.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
I think an Eranshar Arstbara with some armor would be only possible fantasy unit I can think of that are feasible enough for one to actually want in EB (as far as any fantasy unit can be considered feasible for EB ) :)
Atleast in my Bactrian game I thought, I wish I could have some Eranshar Arstbara types with some sort of armor. But on the other hand when one would get to such situation one could train those hypothetical units one is already rich enough to train phalangites of various kinds (atleast for Bactria and Seleucids) to stand in the front line.
We have this almost mythical tree, given to us by the otherwise hostile people in the east to symbolize our friendship and give us permission to send caravans through their lands. It could be said to symbolize the wealth and power of our great nation. Cut it down and make me a throne.
