Nope, that card & CPU are much to powerful for your rig. They're liable to blow up, fry your machine, destroy the town you live in, and force you to travel back in time to repair the situation.

Send them to me courtesy of the Org. post haste for safe disposal.

    Exactly.

The same argument could be applied to almost any company, yet you didn't include a copy of Linux.

Post some detailed specs if you don't mind. I'm curious. I could post my el crapo workstation specs from work and they would look very close to yours minus the graphics card.

BTW, vista HAS dx10 built into it. You aren't waiting for it. You are waiting for dx10 games.

I'm interested, what do you get with "premium" that you dont get with plain old boring "normal" Vista?
Is it like with XP when the only reason to really get Pro was for some of features that no home user will ever need?

Think "Windows XP Media Centre Edition", it's basically that for Vista, or at least I think it is - I'm, sadly, no techno-genius.

    Well, what I know is:

Home Premium has Aero Glass, includes a DVD codec and probably games(Solitaire etc that is) and other family stuff.

Business has advanced networking capabilities, does not include a DVD codec(you have to buy one seperate) and also includes Aero Glass, but no games or anything else companies don't need/want.

Home Basic has no Aero Glass, no DVD Codec I think, no advanced network stuff and maybe not even games.

Ultimate has everything, AeroGlass, advanced network stuff, games, DVD codec, media center etc.

There are probably more differences which you can find on the Microsoft homepage somewhere.

Wow your letting personal feelings dictate that you buy an inferior cpu and vidcard? You know Intel and Nvidea are the only way to go right now in mid priced pcs. That is in the 1000 dollar range.

I think a lot of us have "emotional favorites" as far as electronics go.

If someone gets a card they waited a long time for, and uses it with their favorite game, they're apt to form such positive memories about the products they'll will override the tech specs of other, possibly better brands in the future.

Very true. Also if you've had a lot of problems with a certain make of hardware in the past, then you may avoid it in the future, even though the hardware has moved on leaps and bounds and has improved. Those kind of things can stick in your mind.

Personally I've always bought AMD in the past, but nowadays I would just buy whichever was the best performance and reliability for the money, be it ATI/AMD, Nvidia or Intel. I've also never liked either Intel or Nvidia for numerous reasons, though if ethics are going to come into it, at the end of the day you are choosing between one huge fat cat corporation and another. I've never understood the unshakeable and fanatical big brand fanboyism, especially as regards pc hardware.

Its basicly just a obscene form of trust and stuff, the reason I will only use AMD is because my entire family has used AMD and have been basicly taught that AMD is the gamers processor, ATI I like because its a card I've used in several computers and i've never had any problems with, my first installation of a computer hardware part was an ATI card and it went without hitch, no driver problems at all, on the other hand my dad who put in a N'vidia went through a crap load of driver problems I guesss (probably due to the fact that his computer didnt have internet so his Windows xp was out of date). Theres also that sort of "want to be different feeling" That (i get alot btw) 10 people say "Intel pwns AMD" or "dude get N'vidia" and you say "Damn this is to common I want to be different, AMD FTW!....ATI Rules!...

Why though, in my case a Intel +N'vidia won't give me that much of a performance increase over AMD+ATI build, due to the fact the most i'l spend on a computer is 800 dollars... I mean the difference between the two is probably at most 10-15 frames depending on the game, unless your playing a game with 10-20 frames to begin with it doesn't matter. sure its probably better, but does it matter that much... Why not just buy what your confortable with and have used before.
