Is there a way to allow others civilized factions to build highgways...?
Thanks in advance.

Haha, i just modded it today. Yes there is.
1.Open export_descr_building and look for highways
You shd see something like this
highways requires factions { roman, }
2. Add ur faction
say u wanna add parthia then....
highways requires factions { roman, parthia, }
remember the , after parthia. it is vital otherwise ur game will crash to desktop
3. Then u need to add the building card for highways and for that u have to download vercingterox's pak extractor (go under downloads to find for it)
reply once u have
goodluck

there's a highway.zip with info card to be downloaded somewhere, either here or on TWC

Thanks for the help Poulp' . Appreciate it.![]()
Will try it later.
you're welcome
as soon as I am done with modding my map, I was planning to implement highways; could you I share your experience ?
as soon as i'm done.
one more thing...
do i have to do something on the 'tech tree' thing?
yes, making the builiding buildable in EDB, adding text to text/export_building, adding the pictures...
my armies march further now!!!!
thanks for your help...!
i haven't added the pictures yet so it still shows the "roman" highways.
will try it again if i have time.
thanks again.![]()

hello there.
I reprise this thread because I'm having a weird error about highways.
I am adding a few modifications to a mod for Alexander expansion (LOTR-TW by wlesmana) and I am having a weird error showing up. The mod does not use highways, but I wanted two factions to be able to build them.
But if I add "carthage" to factions able to build highways, the game works ok and highways are buildable and working, but when I quit RTW comes up a error windows saying "RTW has stopped working"
If I remove carthage from the factions abled to build highways, the error disappears.
= errorHTML Code:highways requires factions { pontus, egypt, romans_brutii, carthage, } and hidden_resource road
= no errorHTML Code:highways requires factions { pontus, egypt, romans_brutii, } and hidden_resource road
I can add any other faction and it gives no error messages, only carthage does.
Of course carthage is already abled to build roads and paved_roads and there is no error with it.
Its not giving problems to play but again I don't like to see error messages, it always sounds like sooner or later the game may crash upon that.
I would like to know if anyone else had this problem and if there is a way to deal with it other then ignoring the error message.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Seems I've found the solution :)
Enough removing the "carthaginian eastern" link from descr_ui_buildings.txt and no more error message while exiting the game.
Not sure why such line limits cartaginian buildings though, I supposed it was just about tgas.

the problem is because of the double link in there - I think you'll find it also had a carthage - roman look-up too.
The double link basically confuses it when you try to add a new building.
Well done on finding it - it took most of us a lot longer, even though other people had written it up in the past....
if you add carthaginian buildings without deleting that line and try re-generating the map.rwm file you find that the game stops working all together, if as I assume you did, you keep using old .rwm you just get weird behaviour. As that seems to mean you don't get a completely true reading of the file until you regenerate the .rwm it might be an idea to re-name your map.rwm file (in the campaign folder) at this stage so you're absolutely sure the new version is working - changes involving hidden resources can need a new map.rwm
