The boss might kill me for letting this out but I dont think its too secret since its not a 'new' featue. The year in histories are being drastically expanded as we speak, and TA is doing alot of hard work on compiling these things for a future version. They are very in-depth!

I have always been curious why EB decided to take that approach instead of doing the popups that CA did for things like the hand pump.
Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

...and if they are the pop up windows, you only can view them once, whereas if they are traits you have them all year long, able to be read at any point in the turn or year.
Here's a peak at one of the years shortly after our game starts (year dating for factions is always at the front, all known Olympic results are always at the end). Don't have much except Roman/Carthie stuff for this year though, would like to have more:
This year in history: Diognetos is Eponymous Archon of Athenai, in this 512th year after the first Olympiad, the first year of the 129th Olympiad. Appius Claudius Caudex and Marcus Fulvius Flaccus are both elected to serve their first terms as consul at Roma.\n\nThe First Punic War begins as a Qarthadastim garrison occupies Messana and a meeting of the Roman senate decides to send aid to Messana. The Qarthadastim garrison is forced to withdraw from Messana and they make an alliance with the polis of Akragas. Appius Claudius, consul, is sent to Sicilia and enters into negotiations with the Qarthadastim, but eventually declares war against them and the Syrakousians, whom he then defeats in battle. Claudius then defeats the Qarthadastim as well and after being repulsed at Echetla, he lays siege to Syrakousai itself. Back at Roma, they send soldiers to Vulsinii which they capture and take ruthless actions to restore order. Fulvius Flaccus, the other consul, celebrates a triumph for his victory over the inhabitants of Vulsinii. The Romani hold their first gladitorial show in Roma, held by Decimus Junius Brutus. Before the year is over, a census is completed and the number of Roman citizens numbers over 282,000.\n\nPhilinos of Kos won the stadion at Olympia. Other victors include Philinos of Kos also in the diaulos, and Belestiche of Makedonia, a concubine of Ptolemaios, in the synoris race (where she owned a pair of foals).
