I don't think Cicero did become Princeps Senatus. Consul certainly, and I think a Censor.....maybe even a Potifax? But I don't think he was Princeps Senatus.Originally Posted by Ailfertes
I believe the Princeps Senatus had to be a Patrician, and of unimpeachable morales and integrity, having the most auctoritas and dignitas. But I don't think there was any requirements regarding Magistracies previously held etc.

Cicero most certainly was not pinceps senatus. The princeps was a patrician, and of consular rank as well. he was chosen by the censors for 5 year terms.
