Is it just my game or does every single new character come with these two negative traits? Is there something about Baktria that makes you want to off yourself and compels you to act rudely in social situations?

It might be just a coincidence in yours. I've only had a few with that trait. I've had quite a few get the Chirurgeon, and apparently that's just me.

It comes from the "pessimistic" trait. Which is a family trait, so it's passed down through generations. You can use cheats to change it for characters, but it takes some reading of the traits file to see which one pessimistic actualy is(It's Temperament).
Then you have to change the "STLRating" trait, so you can actually see the rating.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong!
