Medieval Error... Crash At Main Menu... =(

Hey guys... It's about Medieval Total War!!!

Please help me... I have Win XP and i install the game perfectly, nothing wrong happens...

When i double click the icon it shows the entrance video and everything else, when i hit single player, it crashes and i don't know what to do...

I open the medieval total war folder and it says on the .txt file named "error" the following thing:

help me!!! somebody!!!

Is it that my CD-ROm is broken and it doesn't read the cd all the time??
Is it directx 8.1 that is working wrong??
Is it because it's WIN XP??

PLEASE!!! SOMETHING HELP ME!!!
