Usually, when I play MTW, I play total domination. I just started a campain with the English on GA. I have no idea what to do.

Could someone please give me the basics and some pointers of GA.

You can still win by domination, but the Glorius Achievement goals provide you with some alternative to conquest. It is still total war and most of the goals have to do with control of provinces, but you can also get points for reaching certain trade volumes, building specific buildings, Crusading, etc. When you start a Glorious Achievements campaign, in the bottom left corner of your screen there will be e goblet icon, which will flash. Click on it, and you will see a list of glorious achievement goals and an explanation what you need to do to get the points. I always play glorious achievements - I find it a little more fun than the domination campaign.

I think GA is much more fun than GD, cause its simply more realistic (I don't think that any of the factions would have been able to conquer all of europe in history) and I usually get bored, when I'm dominating the world and just have to wipe out the last (weak) enemies.
Every time when I'm playing, it's always GA.

It's also a bit more roleplaying.

    Thanks.

I was also wondering what the homeland points were for. Are they like some sort of trad points or conquest points???

I think you get the homeland-points if you manage to keep your homeland-provinces.
If you don't start with one of the provinces, than you have to conquer this province first.

The problem with GA is that in Late definitely and often in High, the Russians turn into a juggernaught making conquest of the steppes almost inevitable. Which makes me sad because the Steppes are at least my second least favourite place to have to fight a land war.

I love fighting in the steppes, as long as I have the units to do it (HA, light/medium cav and just a few good infantry units). It can be quite challenging to fight there as an European faction facing a steppe faction.

I assume your least favourite place is the desert, or is it the Pyrenees?
