Go to ghostrecon.net and try the CentCom mod. It's 300 megs but well worth the DL. Good Afghan maps. You have to register but there's no email verification sent so you can sign in as you wish.

Might make it worthwhile for you to give it another shot. (Pardon the pun.)

Make sure you have the 1.4 patch installed. Most big mods require it.

I like the team control and the ability to switch back and forth between characters. The other GR games don't let you do this. Still a lot of good play left in GR I think.

I never much liked Ghost Recon. It was still Rainbow Six in an open environment. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, but having the enemy automatically kill you in one shot at 500 meters is not all that much fun.
