Why is it that ninjas either succede or fail. shouldn't there be an option where he fails but still lives and escapes, like with high honour ninjas??

Not a bad thought. The higher the honor the better his chance to escape, yes? I'd like it best if they went into a box for 2-3 seasons after a failure, tho, and were unusable til some time passed (recuperating from wounds, perhaps?). Otherwise it would become a matter of inevitability. An honor 5 ninja could keep returning til the job was done.

The thing about Ninjas is that sometimes you work really hard to get a Ninja to honor 5 and you send him out on a 90% sucess rate mission to find...that he dies!

That's the whole point....A ninja, the infamous stealthy one, the guy who has trained all his life to kill someone can't point the handles of his damn cart at the emissary walking down the street.... hmmmmm

Irving the part that gets me is that after missing the emissary with the cart dart, the trained killer loses the sword fight with a diplomat.Oh the shame of it all.LOL

yeah. the after missing the emissary with the arrows.. he runs in and the emmissary has his sword raised and he just lets it drop onto the ninjas fight.. it would be much cooler if they ACTUALLY fought...

i got a ninja up to honour 4 .. no reloads.. maybe it was 5 i can't remember

A ninja probably would run away and try again later instead of making a suicide charge. Good initial suggestion, Irving of __.

ther's nothing wrong with losing a ninja. historically, ninjas were just loyal retainers picked to do certain dishonorable deeds. the black suit doesn't make them magic or anything. trained all their life? you've been watching too many lone wolf & cub movies.
let us not forget, assassins are really the most dispensible members of society, so it's no big deal if they get killed.

no, i am serious. ninjas were trained since childhood to become part of their ninja sects or something. they played games like getting tied up and having to untie yourself as quickly as possible... Samurai were brave, no doubt... but even they were weary of ninja.... because of Bushido they couldn't assassinate people or enter their homes but ninjas could..... they were incredible hand to hand fighters and had many tricks, weapons and such.... if the dev team thinks that an EMISSARY can kill a ninja.... they are very, very wrong... The aura aroung ninjas back then was that they were magic. and this worked for them and they improved of this by wearing different coloured clothes which would make it look like they didn't bleed and such..... anyways....

nope. i have yet to read anything historically based that confirms the existence of these ninja-training centers that doubled as nursuries for kiddie-ninja. Most of the time, there was maybe one retainer, or monastary of monks, who did some training from time to time. most of the time, ninjas didn't even bother with the black suit. read Turbull's book on ninja, not some fanciful book written & designed expressly to get you to buy the book. you're letting mythology get in the way of history.
anyway, to get back on topic, i do like the idea of letting a ninja fail a mission and live, so he gets another chance and we as players feel more compelled to use them.

ega or iga was the homeland of ninja society.
so they train there until some bastard shogun massacred them all coz they were harboring some enemy troops.nothing wrong with helping out enemy.....well a little bit wrong but still.

yes ninjas also didnt wear black suit with a red thing on their head and they didnt use magic, they used brains. they confused the enemy by dressing like them and they would use gundpowder or somethingto make dust and escape.

tokugawa had his own private ninja army, forgot the name. anyways um to topic. i just received a level 5 ninja a few hours ago ^_^

where they were trained was called just like the game a ninja house.. there is one in Iga, it is a museum and there are still lots of gadgets and stuff from that period... do you really think they would send some 'eta' peasant on such a delicate mission as assassination or espionage? it just wouldn't make sense. . the ninja did train perpetually like the samurai.. to pull off a risky assassination they had much knowledge of poisons and herbs.... they were all around good fighters and combatants...

soly: is it harder to believe ninja began training very young like samurai??

NINJA,dirty deeds done dirt cheap. It would be nice if some of them, especially high honor ones, survived a failed attempt once in awhile.
